Option to allow "read" forum discussions, but with new replies, to be flagged as "New"

I was very confused by the fact that Discord considers forum threads that have in the past been marked as “read”, to still be flagged as “read”, even after new replies have been made in that thread!! That's not the behaviour I want at all. If ANY thread has new replies, I want it to be flagged as a “new thread”. If I want to read the replies, that will then flag the thread as read. If I do NOT want to read the replies, I should then be able to “Mark as Read” the thread.
Also, when a thread has been marked as read, I want the option to ONLY show new/unread threads.
There should also be an option to completely ignore a thread.
Why am I having to say all this in 2024? Usenet worked better than this 30 years ago.

    (and this probably goes without saying, but if the behaviour were changed to allow “read” threads to be flagged as “unread” whenever a new reply was made, I would then expect to be able to mark all such threads as “read” with the channel or server “Mark As Read” button)

    Hello! I'm quite sure I've been to this website before basketball legends but I'm not entirely sure. earlier, but after reading through some of the other postings, I understood that it was something I had never experienced before. Regardless, I am delighted I came across it, and I have bookmarked it and will be coming back frequently!
