April 3 blog AirPod functionality
In the most recent blog there was this mention questioning if anyone actually uses their AirPods with discord. Well I do and I looked up new discord update details when I noticed that when I attempted to mute by squeezing the stem and the mute and unmute sound played at the same time I checked other functions on my iPad and iPhone and this only happens in discord. I believe discord is intentionally unmuting my microphone and I hate it. In the article it says it’s a “nightmare” for people who play with their hair or earrings during calls and I can only conclude that the developers have never used this feature on actual AirPods because the activation of this feature is PRESSURE based and not TOUCH based. Nobody will ever accidentally activate this feature by brushing their AirPods since you have to squeeze the stem with two fingers to do it. This was a non issue for any real person and as someone who uses my iPad everyday to talk on discord voice chat with my AirPods (yes people use tablets with AirPods because we DON’T HAVE TO CARRY THE IPAD TO BE HEARD WITH THEM) and meddling with this feature that works everywhere else on my devices is making my experience significantly worse. I hope the change is reversed and that the developers learn why the issue they’re “fixing” is just intrusive and not something to fix, especially without allowing the user to toggle it (which we could already do by changing the mute feature to activate with 2 squeezes instead of one with our settings)

- Open your GIF in an image editor that supports layers, such as Photoshop or GIMP.
- Create a new layer beneath the GIF’s current layers.
- Use the selection tool to outline the area where you want the drop shadow.
- Fill the selection with a color or gradient that will act as the shadow.
- Apply a Gaussian blur to the shadow layer to create a smooth gradient.
- Adjust the opacity of the shadow layer to achieve the desired shadow effect.
- Ensure the shadow layer aligns properly with each frame of the GIF.
- Merge the shadow layer with the GIF layers, or apply it individually to each frame.
- Export the GIF with the drop shadow applied.
- Test the GIF to ensure the shadow looks consistent across all frames.
- For precise layout planning, tools like the Mcdonalds can help in optimizing space usage.
- Always preview the final GIF to check the visual impact of the drop shadow.
