Discord forums don't light up like regular channels do for new messages

I want to use forums, but my users constantly complain that the visibility of the conversations is really bad. They never see new messages unless I @ them, which is obviously annoying. Why don't they receive the full highlight like other channels do for new messages? I just see a little tiny number which is not good enough.

There should also be strong promotion of the “Follow” button, it should be visible when you click the forum and see the list of threads, each thread listed should have a big Follow button on it, most users seem unaware of the concept of “Following”.

Also I noticed I can't put a “Channel Topic” at the top like for regular channels, there's just an empty space where the channel topic would normally be displayed. I was going to put a message there telling users to make sure to click “Follow” for every thread, but I can't do that. This also means you can't tell people what the forum is for.
