Be invisible on one server but online on another.

Come on devs, commit it sneakily and live as legends for the rest of your life

Upvoting. I'm in servers with friends(IRL and online), as well as a couple with co-workers, including at least one member of upper management. I'd prefer work not know when I am gaming(I tend to run simulations in the background while I work for amusements) or even online, but I would like my non-work friends to know I am online if they wanna BS.
5 -
Upvoting. This would be very usefull!!! Like other said, i have server for friend, but also other servers, more "professional", for university, job...
7 -
up
3 -
Upvoting seems pointless. This already has enough votes, so it seems the "powers that be" at Discord have already decided not to implement this.
4 -
If they do not implement this will be another reason to switch to the new teamspeak when he get out of beta.
3 -
glad to hear teamspeak is coming out with something new as competition. personally, i've always hated discord but only started using it because my guild wanted memes -_-
discord really isn't even a voice chat server. it's just a social media platform that just happens to have voice capabilities
1 -
Agreed - Discord is not intended as a voice chat server. It's more like a real-time Facebook.

Something like this would be really interesting to be seen. But maybe expand it so you can be DND too? And possibly for people in lots of servers there's a pop up where you can manually change your status for any server without having to scroll to it.
This would be really useful if you want to avoid getting notifications on a server. Especially for people in lots of server which get like 100 pings in 10 minutes pretty much. But they don't want to mute all pings in general
The current system just doesn't work.
Active= Pings from a role your in, someone pinging you, pining @everyone and @here will all be notified to you. This also includes friend requests and DM's
DND= No ping notifications at all.

Showing online in some discord servers is considered opsec! (EVE Online)
3 -
100% agree
3 -
Agree with Dal. Games that utilize persistence (Eve Online, Rust, etc) can use this info for opsec.
Discord is great for connecting communities but I'd like to limit my game activity to "private" servers and be able to hide this activity in larger "public game community" or professional oriented servers.
4 -
selective online would be so helpful!!
3 -
I want my friends to see that im playing a game, but i don't want my co-workers seeing it. It would be amazing to have an option to turn off game activity on certain servers.
4 -
I can understand that, MakseN..... but that would be easy if Discord allowed concurrent logins to multiple Discord accounts. You could have a "gaming" account and a "work" account. This is yet another feature Discord needs to add.
1 -
+1. This seems like quite a basic feature to not have yet been implemented, especially with all these upvotes.
Ideally I want to be able to set my online status per server. At the very least, I'd like the ability to set myself invisible on certain servers while the remainder are controlled by a single status control.
I also agree with those who have said that other statuses, eg Currently Playing, should have a per-server toggle. This doesn't affect me personally (yet), but I can see how it would be a big deal for many people.
3 -
I am going to leave my +1 here for support.
3 -
Please, let this not be one of those feature suggestions where the devs "pretend" to look the other way ..
3 -
They already have. This thread has the 6th most votes (the first five have been implemented), and has among the most comments..... but the devs are implementing suggestions with far fewer votes.

Discord is not only a place for "casual" place for gamers
You'll find more and more professional oriented type servers that might be for gaming, but still expect professional behavior. The online/ idle/ do not disturb/ invisible (offline) status modes are all we have to represent our current true current status.
This silly little blurb status that you can add in that discord gave us is for for S&G. And, most people don't take that seriously.
▬ It would would very simple from this end user standpoint to set your status (if your had the permission in the server) to be offline or online. Just like with nicknames.6 -
100%, this needs to be done. Server specific ones and even user specific online statuses. By default this would be simple: normal button for online status governs your overall status for servers/users where you haven't specifically set another status to be shown.
5 -
So many people constantly demanding attention in one server or another and I can't say yes to one without pissing off the others, please add this as a function.
2 -
Uh....what? If you have friends who dm spam you when you're online and they don't stop when you ask them too then unfriend them, if you're on a server where you don't feel safe being online then leave the server.

Maybe people should just stop using Discord for just that reason... maybe then they would implement a feature like this :) As long as people keep using Discord even tho a lot, if not the majority of Discord -users, would love to have a feature like this and Discord doesn't even react to it nor implement it. Years have gone by which tells me they just don't want to do it... which also means... they just don't care what their members want. It's common sense and logic thinking for implementing this and they can probably shut Discord down as soon as another App, like the new Teamspeak, comes out. Well maybe when people stop using Discord in masses they will listen... if it's not to late by then :) I think they are digging their own grave and they had more than enough time not to loose against another APP.
@ 👌 EatThatPie 👌 A lot of users are in more than one Channel because of various reasons... let it be several games they play, private, work, or other channels.
Example: getting messages from all other Channels while you are busy talking to a family member or a group of friends or work related is what people don't want. They want a bit of privacy and Discord does not seem to respect this otherwise they would have implemented it by now. It's been years since people have been asking for it and they just refuse. Leaving a Channel and then rejoining them again would be more than annoing. Do you want to leave your Workchannel and rejoin, then leave again and so on just because you want to talk in a Gamechannel ? Or do you want to leave your ESO Channel because you also play BDO now but people from the ESO Channel keep sending you messages? Then rejoin ESO again and leave BDO for the same reason ?
A lot of people play many different games and Discord knows this but.... they don't seem to care... conclusion? Use a different APP as soon as one comes out and let them have a good time knowing they f.. up and only have themselfs to thank for it :)

I am a game developer. I have my game server and personal server. I don't want my game server seeing me online so I don't get blasted with messages when I'm just online hanging with the guys.
Please add this. Thanks <3

How is this not a thing yet discord! You can't say you will implement community asks and then ignore one of the biggest asks XD.
4 -
Just always set your status as invisible so YOU can decide when you want to be online and not when your status does. You can then leave a message in a server and then they don't know if you're on your device or not because you don't change your status, they don't know if you are watching or not watching or if you left or not. YOU get to decide whether or not you have to reply to people DMing you when you're doing something important because they wouldn't know if you were actually online or not.
I repeat my earlier statement: If you don't want a server knowing you're online then why are you even on it? Doesn't sound like a very safe environment or very good friends if they expect you to participate whenever you are online. Vice versa for this "friends that spam you", then why are they your friends? Have you asked them to stop doing this? If you have and they haven't then just unfriend them.
Its funny how these are the same people who want the "message seen" feature, which basically makes this whole post null and void if discord ever makes the mistake of adding "message seen".
-24 -
@EatThatPie I simply think you don't understand what's being asked here and that's ok! Sometimes in life, an issue will arise and the people (in chorus) will speak. If you don't understand the matter and are constantly getting down votes... maybe there is your answer. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but when you just don't get it... the opinion is null and void.
11 -
OMG I can't believe this incredibly ESSENTIAL feature does not even exist ; it just make me want to uninstall Discord and use something else.
6 -
Seriously - implement this. Or explicitly say you don't intend to.
Came here from a quick google search. I was sure this can be done, i just cannot find how. Especially these days, a lot of folks want to have some private and some work/professional discord servers. And many people like to keep those two worlds somewhat separate.
