Feature to add bots to a group chat
Make it so that you can add bots straight into a group so you don't have to bother making a entire server just to use a bot between a small 4 member group.

This would be a great addition to a DM

There's several niche bots this would be really useful for, as well as *organizational or scheduling* bots.
Specific niche example: Astrobot generates astrology charts and would be really useful for discussing a chart with potential clients and displaying different ones for different life-events while live-chatting with someone.
There's many other, non-server-administration bots that would be similarly useful in various contexts that don't involve servers. In several small group DMs (<10 members) where we want to retain the accessibility of the incredibly long chat-log so don't want to just convert into a full server, the ability to add bots is one of the features several people in them, including myself, most wish would be added.2 -
BUMP!
Please add this feature

This Would be nice to have BUT most bots Including Mine might have to change the code of their bots because they have disabled commands in DM's also things like Mute, Ban, Kick and most admin commands will not work in a group chat, Bots Like Rythm that play music in vc Will NOT work in a group chat.

I have one small problem with this, plenty of bots rely on roles. So if you want to add bots to a Group DM you'll also have to add roles!

i would very well want that

How is this still not a thing?
for us host a full server for 4 people who want to use a music bot, news bot and a reminder for their weekly workout seems a bit mutch.
so inviting bots to group chat would be great.

imagine if they added features people wanted. so then stuff like "better discord" didnt exist. instead they're focusing on random colored templates that are limited and 5 random profile pic decorations that are all ugly...... what is the point?

This is a brilliant idea

There seems to be some mis/dis-information about this feature on reddit. Namely:
https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/10ybipl/discord_is_updating_group_dms_with_activities_and/
https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/p48cay/discord_bot_in_dms/These posts claim that it is already possible to add bots to Group DMs. However, official Discord docs clearly state that this is not possible:
There's also a Github issue discussing this topic:
https://github.com/discord/discord-api-docs/issues/426
So the more authoritative sources state that it is not currently possible to add bots to Group DMs, but Reddit posts say the opposite, and even include screenshots showing the capability... Can anyone shed some light on this discrepancy?0 -
Advaith knows what he's talking about, he tends to have the inside scoop on everything
This is coming, but it isn't here yet
Bots will be able to be added with only the
applications.commandsscope specifically, so only interactions no messages, managing the group, etc0 -
Bump. As a developer I would strongly like this feature.

Patrick Carney bots can be installed to users now, which ostensibly solves this problem:
https://discord.com/developers/docs/change-log#userinstallable-apps-preview0 -
There still seems to be some missing things that I would like. Stuff like reading a group dm's messages. And it seems like the app is only visible to you? That defeats the purpose for me.

Patrick Carney I get why you'd want to read messages, but that's really the old way of handling Discord bots. All user interactions with the bot should be through actual interactions (application commands).
Other users can see the bots messages. So one user could use a command that generates a reply with buttons and other controls, and other users can interact with the controls without installing the bot to their user. You can click a button to spawn a dialog that takes user input, etc.
