Minimize button for images/video
As a user I would like to be able to hide/minimize inline chat images so that I will no longer see them.
Add a minimize button to the chat window for images and other embeds (GIF/YouTube/link previews/etc). Just a little arrow above the image that lets you hide/unhide would be sufficient. Can be client-side, doesn't need to sync across platforms if implementation too complex.
This solves a number of problems:
- Allows more chat lines to be visible
- Hides NSFW imagery
- Hides stale memes
- Allows users to better regulate chatspam/problematic users
-
Easy to remove the popup, just click outside the picture and it will "exit" the image.

Preferably only applies to the user viewing the embedded content. If an image/video needs to be moderated the moderation team can do it.
However if a user wishes to hide an embed just for their own reasons it should be much easier to do than roundabout ways like blocking the user or literally deleting the DOM element temporarily.

@Vortiene yes this is just for a user client-side, no one is suggesting users should be able to hide images from other users.

@senorroboto No one was suggesting it directly but it was possible to think of it in that way without any clarification. I am just bringing clarity to what is desired through that comment.

@Vortiene seeking clarity is an admirable goal, considering Duckers McQuack's comment seems to think this is about hiding maximized images and not inline chat images.

Yes! I would love to be able to show/hide gifs/images/attachments/link previews. I love this feature on Slack and think it would be a great addition to Discord.
Oh! I just saw the message from Psychodata. I am going over there to vote as well. :D
