Reaction via hotkey
On Discord desktop app, I would like to be able to bind a keyboard shortcut that causes the reaction pop-over to display on the last message in the channel when the hotkey is pressed. This is a feature that Slack has that I find very convenient as it allows me to quickly react to people.
This is different from typing +:reaction: in chat for two reasons:
- +:reaction: doesn't give me the nice search UI, I have to know exactly what I'm looking for in advance.
- +:reaction: attaches to the last message at the time the message is sent, rather than when I press the hotkey. In a fast-paced channel, this results in attaching the reaction to the wrong message more often than not, which causes more problems than it is worth to even bother trying, making the feature worthless in those situations.
Prior to the most recent update, I was able to run this amazingly brittle script to add this functionality to Discord Desktop app (and web app): https://gist.github.com/MicahZoltu/6946096153eb20ce16a50bb2de16dbb2 Feel free to steel the technique and implement it directly into Discord, or open source Discord and I'll submit a PR myself!
