Unicode characters display a bit off -- Make more fonts available?

Hello!  Currently, there is a slight visual glitch where Unicode characters with hooks over them ("ảẻỉỏủ") display slightly larger than other characters ("aeiou").  I'm currently part of a discord dedicated to the conlang called Toaq, and these characters are very important to the language.  Is there a way this can be fixed?  Alternatively, could a setting be added so that I can control what font the chat appears in, so I can choose one with better support for Unicode?
