Copying from Excel & Pasting into Message: Please treat as plain text, not PNG
I use Discord to run online board games, and several of my messages as a GM are fairly standardized. I maintain an Excel spreadsheet and generate templates for my messages so that I'm not always writing them out.
When I was doing the same thing using Slack, any cells that I copied from Excel would just show up as plain text when pasting them into a message (tabs between columns, line breaks between rows), just as if I'd pasted them into a plain .txt file.
However, when I try to paste into Discord, it keeps wanting to treat it as an uploaded PNG image. Is there an option I'm missing to get Discord to import the cells as text instead? It would seem to me that this should at least be an option; it's the default behavior for almost any program I run where I copy content from Excel and paste elsewhere.
System Info: I'm operating from a desktop computer running Windows 10, and I'm using the installed Discord client.

I agree that there should be an option for plain text pasting, but I'd like to keep the ability to paste cells as PNG because sometimes the plain text pasting formats weirdly, and PNGs are often useful for showing others data at a glance. 2 -
Not just Excel - OneNote, Word - just about everything except Notepad. PLease treat text as text, not as a picture.

Was running into this problem myself, and while it would be nice to have an option, you can do ctrl+shift+v instead of just ctrl+v - and that will paste as plain text instead of as an image (from OneNote anyway, I haven't tested anything else).

I wish there was an option to default it to text.

This is bothersome to have to keep opening notepad to paste stuff, re-copy, paste into Discord.
Why does Discord treat text from Word / OneNote as an image? I can partially understand Excel, but come on... not even "paste as..." options.0 -
ctrl+shift+v

I have confirmed that Control-Shift-V does currently work for browser-based Discord. I have not yet been able to confirm whether it works for the Discord application.

ctrl+shift+v is not valid option on MacOS, iOS or other apple platform
what is the solution for MacOS how to copy paste from Microsoft Office app as plain text?

For Mac OS working from MS Office, the only "solution" that has worked so far is to paste text into Notes first to strip formatting and then paste into chat. I have tried “Option+Shift+Command+V" and I have tried creating a paste-as-plain text keyboard shortcut as recommended here (https://eshop.macsales.com/blog/72298-paste-non-formatted-text-mac/), but neither worked.

I ran into this problem as I was trying to copy and past something from word. I'm using a Mac and the work around I found was to highlight whatever you want to copy over to Discord and then drag it over and put it in the text box and it drops it right in! No need to try and copy and paste! I tried it a few times before I decided to comment so if you guys have issues or if it works let me know!

PhoenixVia - thank you !!! this works perfectly !!! just select text in word and drag and drop to discord chat !!!
seems that this is "MacOS" native feature which simply not use bad MS Office limitations and formatting during copy+paste :-) great !!!

The drag and drop method does not work from Word in MacOS

I know this is two months later, but I just tried it on MacOS Monterey and it worked perfectly.
