Profile Upgrade (Express Yourself!)
Being able to express yourself through your profile more.
Some of the features could include:
- Status message (like skype, short, easily changed, first thing to see when messaging someone or looking at profile)
- "About me/Bio" section
- Birthday (server alerts of when it's someone's birthday would be a cute addition)
- Gender
- Websites (instagram, twitch, steam, twitter, etc)
- Location (some people like having others know where they're from (country/state or province/city)
- Mobile/Email contact forms
These are just the first few that come to mind. There's always room for more. All features should of course be optional. Everyone has a choice how much information they want to share, and there should also be a privacy setting as to who can see all the information as well as how much (private (self only), friends, friends of friends/servers, public). I believe this would be a good feature to discord because there's people (like myself) who wishes to be able to express themselves more freely. Having only my profile picture and the game I am playing displayed for others to see feels very limiting.

I was thinking about it... It is a really cool idea! PLS DISCORD!

I dont see why this needs to be possible uff -1 -
Add a tag for bots to be able to use (and yourself if you feel up to the challenge).
<dUnix:fo:rm:at>
<d1563504200:HH:mm:ss> turns to 02:43:20 (GMT in this example) in the chat.
Less to interact with and makes life easier for everyone then. Perhaps give it a special highlight/color so people can recognize it's converted to their local/preferred timezone and not a static date/time.

would be great if this information was accessible through the API for bots to use.

I think the only way for you to see what servers someone else is in should be the current "common servers" feature. Any servers that you do not share with them are their private and personal information. I definitely think user profile pages are a good idea though, but it should be up to the user to decide what to put. Maybe there could be an option like "list servers you are in on user page" that would allow anyone to see a full list of your servers?

@Dubz I do like that idea as an option, but I'd also like to see an option that is easy for non-devs to enact. But in any case, any mechanism like that would be helpful. I do love Discord. It's tech is solid and quite featureful - but sometimes the UI/UX leaves something to be desired (took me several sessions before I could figure out where the logout functionality was.)

@johantux I can agree with you. The UI is a bit much, due to the high number of features. It's certainly overwhelming for new users to get a hang of. I feel like they should go through an "initiation/training" phase where tips are introduced/unlocked as their account ages (optionally bypassing if you already have experience or want to go all in).
Anyways, my thought was for something simple devs could integrate immediately, if they added it. As for the users' messages, perhaps always convert from the sender's local time to the reader's local time (to hide their locale for privacy maybe?), if they want. Otherwise it'd just show the sender's local time like it does now.

This could be considered similar the custom statuses feature, having both of them would be quite confusing -1 -
ye why not 0 -
I would love that idea to have profiles! It makes so much sense in communities!

This would be a really nice addition! 0 -
Accualy a cool idea.

Great idea, lots of likes, yet discord hasn't implemented them yet. I feel like they aren't really reading some of these requests. There's an outcry for a mass DM deletion tool and one still hasn't been brought in.

Isn't this feature currently in testing already? I think this suggestion is dated now.

That would be great. 0 -

This would be really nice, to be able to have like a banner picture then your information below.

I def agree! If Discord had the option to add user bio's at the very least that would be amazing! I would never use any other Social Media platform when Discord has much better community morale and social experiences.

the second one is already in place, BUT it requires 10 discord nitro boosts.

I second this hardcore

This needs to be added tbh.

This would make a lot of things a hell of a lot easier. @Discord please add

this would be so helpful

I've been following this idea for some time now, I really hope it does get added!

Agreed. Extra points if the profile page has an url so you can share it with others. Been wanting this for contact purposes (since my contact page on my website have buttons with links, and it's odd to have a button without a link).

GREAT IDEA

As DISCORD becomes recognized more and more as “not just a gamers” platform anymore; having full blown Public profile capabilities is essential. Adding a non public note to what is only a person’s user avatar is rather bland at best.
