Hashtags for Chat messages
I know hashtags are currently used to identify specific text channel names, this would not interfere with that as far as i can tell. What i propose is having messages be able to be tagged with hashtags, similar to how it works on other social media platforms but specific to each server, what i mean is for instance if you have a general gaming text chat channel, but you want to be able to discuss specific games for instance but don't want to create a separate channel for every game or many different games, then have have the ability to use hashtags in messages, and when you click the hashtag it will take you to a page where it shows all the messages that hashtag was used in, on your server, that way you can more easily have separate specific conversations within a text chat channel, you could also add with this, a page on servers where the most popular or recent hashtags used on that server are shown. If you used a hashtag that is already used as a channel name it would still retain it's current functionality, of linking you to that chat channel when clicked, so it shouldn't interfere with that.

i wish people would be willing to discuss their reasoning for thinking this is a bad idea, I'm open to hearing other opinions and alternatives, rather than just down-voting this without leaving a comment. It could be an extremely useful feature to help keep things on my server better organized, that along with the ability to move messages between channels when something is posted in the wrong place. For anyone who wouldn't have a use for it, wouldn't have to use it, perhaps it could even be disabled completely, but i doubt I'm the only one who would find something like this useful, but perhaps there is a better way of implementation.

I dont know why the hell this got so many down votes. This is the exact feature I am looking for right now and there are really lots of applications this can be used with chat bots.

I was just searching on how to tag specific message in discord so they can be easily "searched" later. Again, not sure why this got so downvoted. It would be a useful feature.

This could help tremendously when trying to handle a long timeline of comments.
We could use comment tags to gather all the relevant ones together efficiently.

It will not be so useful for small communities but my discord got so crowded lately that both #general chats have a lot of activity and if anyone want to look for a message it's almost impossible if you don't remember specifically what you are looking for.

I would love to have this feature. I feel that tags are a missing resource for servers. Especially when you have so many people looking for specific things, or trying to avoid specific things.

I have a Pokemon Go server where you can navigate in different channels called as zones from my city so you can post raids in your area so people can join to that raid. I'd use hastag support to post raids with the pokemon name, for example #charizard so the people can search the raid they need3 -
I typically use the character "%" as my hashtag in my discord servers.
Though one could use any character they want other than the "#"So an example I would do:
%filipino %vegetarian %eggplant
[some link for cooking]
and then I would just control-F keywords. It would be cool for discord to organize ones tags1 -
I've been literally searching for this & the tag bots out there have too many commands for a regular server user. did anyone get around this?

My server would also enjoy this as we have many artists and one channel for sharing study art. Having searchable tags would allow people to add what they are practicing or also get specific feedback for that thing they want to improve on.

I have found the best solution until they don't add this feature to dc.
Use highlight style text for tagging! You type: _tag_
If you search for highlighted text you find only the highlighted text and if you search for any other text you will not find highlighted.
Important! Its working only if you write in chat _tag_ instead of using the italic text style feature. The look is going to be the same, but the code is not.
It's actually not called italic, but highlight which is the /me function. You can't use this function for certain text, but only for your whole message. If you type _tag_ you can narrow it down to specific words in your message.

Tags will group conversations within a server especially within a channel. I believe they will be more useful in a channel especially if you want ur members to find certain things easily.0 -

Reason: my friend loves to post recipes in my food channel. However I want to "tag" the posts we make, for example, with as something such as:
Tried-And-True
or
Just-Inspired-Ideas
I get tired of seeing a flood of food recipes that may or may not be awesome. I want people to be able to know which ones you've actually tested and you know are good, you know? Not just something you searched up on the internet and thought looked good so you posted it. I mean that's fine too, but I want to know which is which!
I hope this example helps explain one possible use of Hashtags, some sort of Flair, or Tags that could be used on messages in your channels.
