Telling if a friend request was denied or not
Alright, so... For quite some time, a denied friend request (from you to someone else) doesn't disappear from your pending requests. Basically, someone whose friend request was denied cannot be aware their friend request was denied.
From an official Discord tweet, this appears to be an intentional feature. It's a Mar 18 2016 tweet that answers a question (that seems to be asking if you can tell if your request has been denied), and it goes like this: "Nope, you won't be able to tell. That way it stops people from spamming it if someone really doesn't want to be friends."
As much as I comprehend the intention behind this decision, I disagree it's a legit solution and I'd like to suggest it was changed so you can actually tell if your friend request has been denied by the other person (by it disappearing when the other person denies it), for the following reasons:
- If the other person is being bothered by "spammed" requests, they now can simply block the other person, which will stop the requests in a more effective and guaranteed way;
- The system could, actually, have the opposite effect than intended. If someone wants to spam requests, they will continue to do so and even in a worse way, as even a still-not-seen request could be perceived by them as a rejected request (as they can't be sure if it was denied or simply not accepted yet, and end up assuming it was denied), making such person to re-send requests even when their request wasn't truly denied at all.

I agree. I actually would like to know the truth if someone really rejects you or not. If they rejects, you can be for sure that they don't want to be friends and move on. But leaving the sender hanging is not really a good way to go on about things. It brings on many worries, like are they alright? Did something happen? Because by having the block options, which stops the sender from sending friend requests already, there's no need to leave the sender questioning

I see this post is 2 Years old, is this still the way the Ignore Feature acts on Discord in 2021?

From what I see, Discord still has this problem to this day.

Is there any updates to when Discord is planning to change this Friend Request "Pending" System? I hope they remove this problem.

I agree. I'm sending friend requests and I don't know if they're accepted or rejected. I really feel that I deserve to know. So Discord, please, please, PLEASE change this so we know the truth about our requests.
Is there a way to contact the folks at Discord to raise this issue, Cuz?
