Esc Key Functionality in File Uploads

When I upload an image, video or other miscellaneous file to send as/in a message (see image for example), the instinctive action for me is to hit the Esc (Escape) key if I want to cancel the message. Discord uses the Esc key throughout its interface, and I find it strange that it hasn't been used here. Is there some reason it hasn't been done? Or maybe this was overlooked?
