    I think this is okay to use, assuming you have permission of the people in the call.

    I think it can be a very viable idea. discord already does a great job with letting you set a community up. and with them have only a few people on in a server at a time allows for less lag and drop call issues.  I myself would like to see a feature were I can record a livestream with myself and 2 guests as we act out a script.  Just and the record feature into the role area or into permissions, this way only that one voice channel is used for it and everyone understands that it'll be used for it.

    This suggestions has been around for 2 years. Any update yet?
    The only way that I can do cloud recording is to via Skype but I am sick with their interface and low sound quality.

    Discord is way better but lacking of video call recording feature is a huge draw back. I've to switch between thse two softwares for general chat and video recording.

    I support this idea. We want record video call sometimes with my automation testing team. We use Discord for daily syncronization.

    As others here have said, the addition to recording (especially as stated, with regard to addressing the privacy concerns) would be an amazing boon to Discord. I'm in the midst of a start-up for game development and because of the ease of setting up multiple channels for both text and voice, we post a good amount of material on the server during and between meetings. Being able to record those meetings and the valuable ideas that come out of them would be magic.

    I definitely want to know if this is still in the works. Perhaps two years ago it didn't seem like a pertinent thing to have. However, now that so many people are still having to operate from home, Discord could bloom into an ideal platform for so many teams to get work done and have a record of the wonderful tidbits that come out of collaboration.

    There's no privacy issues. When you using an application you accept it's rules and users would agree to the rules from the moment they logged in. More than that, it's a privacy tool that could help you fight any type of actual crimes that could happen towards you. Hatespeech, blackmailing, all the things you like. The only reason not to implement it is devs being pity for shitposters who would commit crimes here and there due to they stupidity.

    And yeah, they could easily make it so you store the recording locally. There's no need to store them on their servers.

    The streamer could record only his stream/camera so it'll have no problem with privacy. Sure, there might be another option if it is wanted to record all the call with all the members online in it.

    I see this feature as a pretty good essential. I actually needed this stuff one time, when a member broke a rule by putting something on the stream, but no one could remember who it was. Regarding the privacy: I imagine it being implemented just like on MS Teams, it goes like this:

    • Organizer presses the "Start recording" button;
    • All of the students get a message that the meeting is being recorded and that you agree to the privacy policy.

  • This is a feature that I would really, really love to see on Discord! I don't see why privacy is such a major objection here. Other video conferencing platforms (e.g. Webex, Skype, Zoom) also enable recording and anyway, if someone really wanted to record, the lack of a recording feature wouldn't deter them, they could just record on their device without the knowledge of anyone. Or the recording feature could be limited to just moderators/admins, but either way, I would really like to see some kind of tool to help with recording on Discord!

    You can do this easily with a 3rd party software so there is no real privacy issue here. I am up for this as long as there is an indicator per joined user that they are recording.
