I know a lot of people don't have the best microphone setup, and having these tools available could improve audio quality immensely. Some very basic tools to remove PC fan noise, boost & clean up vocal, and increase input gain, would be awesome. That way I (and others like me) wouldn't have to have the mic in our face, or use other virtual routing options before the discord input (which eats a bit of CPU, btw!) in order to be heard properly.

If you decide to do this, I suggest you keep the settings simple and minimal to some extent.
Examples:

EQ: Three parameters; 1st and 3rd locked on frequency and Q factor - only gain sliders, 2nd parameter has adjustable frequency, Q, and Gain.

Compressor: Adjustable threshold, ratio, and makeup gain.

De-esser: Adjustable frequency and gain/de-ess amount.

Fixed order chain; De-esser, EQ, Compressor -> Dischord input.


If you don't feel like coding audio tools like this, maybe the use of VST's, or other free sound modules (Looking at you, Reaper) could be implemented instead, if you work out a license :)


It would really help if you decide to do this!

    Yes!! Please please add audio compression for incoming audio, so that everyone is the same volume! This way, even people that range from quiet/whisper to loud/yelling within seconds, can be heard without bleeding ears (:

    Completely agree with this. Considering FrankerFaceZ has managed to put one into their Twitch integration, it's pretty poor in my opinion that Discord still doesn't have any audio processing when its main function is to transmit audio. A basic EQ and compressor should be the least a product like this should have.

    YES PLEASE!!! I have a natural "dj" voice but most "gaming" headsets totally change how my voice sounds.

    I would suggest also adding an advanced option. It would be a nice feature for audio engineers to get accessed all the parameters of the plugins! But first the simple way definitely!!
