I am surprised after all these years we still don't have this option. Closing DMs is not enough it won't be.

Unfortunately, you cannot delete a direct message that someone else has sent you on Discord. You can only delete messages that you have sent yourself. However, you can choose to "archive" the DM by clicking on the three dots on the message and selecting "Archive". This will hide the message from your main message list, but you can still access it by going to your archived messages. If the direct message is inappropriate or violates Discord's guidelines, you can report it to Discord's Trust and Safety team.

This is not only an issue around uncomfortable messages, but it's also a privacy issue. For example, someone who later turned out to be creepy sent you a message a few years back: "Is {insert address here} still your address? I wanna send you a gift!" Yes, that is still my address 4 years later, and no I don't want that user being able to search "address" in our chat history to remind themselves where I live if I dare block them.

There are many positive aspects to being able to delete a full direct message (DM). Additionally, it would be beneficial if the small 'x' that hides the DM also erased the message history every time it was clicked. This feature would particularly help individuals who have received scary or random messages from others.
