Discord has removed the bot verification badge from being obtained because of users making a bot just for the badge.
Why this shouldn't have happened
I believe the verified bot developer badge was a good thing for discord to show of what you created on discord. Because some people were making throwaway bots, and paying for it to be in 75 servers then deleting it doesn't mean we should all lose it. As someone who has developed a few bots, and recently finished my first public bot, my motivation wasn't just the badge, but it did motivate me. 99% of users with a bot in 75 servers actually put effort into it, and they deserve the badge.
What they could've done
I believe they could've had required statistics like the partner program. So it would be the bot has to be in 75 servers with 25 members, 50 messages a week, or something like that. Just plain removing it is like when the elementary school teacher punishes everyone because one kid did something. The verified bot dev badge should be given to people who made a good bot, and it was a good incentive.
I am open to feedback, so please leave your comments and suggestions in the comments. I hope they can figure something out to give something similar to the verified badge to users who help their platform with bots that they put effort into.
