due to the fact it's possible to capture the obs preview window when using a capture card, i doubt it's really a big task to add webcam / capture card support.

(my hdmi capture card is detected as webcam)

there is just is no reason for this to not be present. we don't even care about a webcam overlay.. we just want to use the webcam / capture card as streaming source.

My capture card is one of those weird ones that the OBS team absolutely refuses to support, but it is supported by Gamecaster. There's no way to do a full-screen preview in the Gamecaster beta (...yet), so it's a bigger deal to those of us who have cards that output a nonstandard video feed.

    Looking at you, Hauppauge...

I found a good work around. Use VLC media player to display the capture card video, then tell discord to stream the VLC app. It'll even automatically crop out everything except the video itself. works very well for me. You can also create a shortcut for VLC that automatically opens it straight to your capture card feed.

Does the VLC method output audio as well as video or just video output?

    This is needed!
I have to recycle my old Yi Camera and slay COVID friends calls.

Discord has fantastic screen capture tools, including capturing game audio. Why not add direct support for capture cards, for easily streaming console games to friends? (I know some capture cards can already be shown as a webcam source in Discord - but there's no audio when shared that way. Getting the audio should be easy from capture cards, now! My new one even appears as an audio source in Windows.)
