Discord iOS extremely laggy on open

For the past few weeks opening Discord on iOS takes ages to “connect” or accept touch inputs. I can swipe left and right, but tapping channels does not work for a solid 5-10 seconds. It’s super laggy and weird. I’m on an iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14.3. I’ve tried on both WiFi and 4G/5G, either one has the same issue. Reinstalling seemed to fix it for a little bit, but it came back after a couple of app opens. It never used to be like this at all. Something changed recently with the way Discord connects and loads which makes the experience of using the app awful on each and every app open.
