Messaging a friend and getting "The recipient may not be friends with your or has blocked you" popups

For the record, we aren't blocking each other and we have each other added as friends on Discord. This issue only started today, but there have been multiple times today where we have been messaging each other and our messages fail to go through to the other person, with the message from Clyde saying "Your message could not be delivered because you don't share a server with the recipient or you disabled direct messages on your shared server, recipient is only accepting direct messages from friends, or you were blocked by the recipient." We have both experienced this issue messaging each other, usually one right after the other. What could be causing this?

  I'm having the same issue as well and so is my friend on your app. I would like to ask you to check the app and see if there's a malfunction because this is getting quite annoying.
