There are few things I would like to address about the latest chat design update.
Imagine reading a book. You see words adding up into paragraphs, and you see paragraphs filling the page just like in all other books. Then you flip to the last page and see that there is not enough left space, so the rest of the content was violently squashed into this one page with no spaces whatsoever.
Here, I really don't understand the need to turn a "cozy, easy on eyes" look into the "compact" one. Discord had two message display modes for different means, but now there is absolutely no difference between them expect the avatar display.
New spaces between the chat elements completely ruining the reading experience. Before the update, all text in the chat was lining just like in the example I mentioned above.
Now there's different spacing for *everything*: between lines in one message, between messages, between nickname and message, between message and media, between a quote and message... someone took the book and put all organized lines in one big mess. My eyes are crying.
I guess the new "space between message groups" is supposed to help, but it's not a fair trade. It's not really helping, since the horizontal space between avatars and text (or left sidebar) is also a thing, and they are very small for the "cozy" feeling. Along with weird, very small space for typing indicator.
It's not cozy anymore. It's squashed. It's compact, but not cozy.
Suggestion: please, make at least one spacing size between lines in chat object. One spacing size between nickname, quote and media fields, media attachments, simple text.
Hover panel also needs work, starting with... it doesn't have to be *hover*. It also doesn't have to hover over my messages.
Actually, with all these features like recent emoji, it now reminds me of Skype. Does Discord want to look like Skype? 🤔
