An option to force mobile mode would be nice for my LattePanda build as well

Pinebook Pro and Nintendo Switch could really use a client (both running Arch Linux ARM)

Raspberry Pi 4 and Nintendo Switch would be great uses

I agree too. This could be really useful for Raspberry Pi 4 and Nintendo Switch

Definitely think this would be a great addition. I have a Pinebook Pro, and it's a great and capable machine for what it is; and there's also SBCs like the Raspberry Pi 4 (Maybe 3 is on aarch64 as well, I don't recall)  as well as the Pinebook, Pine64, PineTab, PinePhone etc, as well as likely a variety of more poorly supported SBCs and laptops.

I think aarch64 will have a place in the future; Microsoft already has Windows 10 on ARM though I suppose it's likely Discord would work through its emulation. Linux aarch64 already supports electron, so I imagine it should be very plausible. A Pinebook Pro only runs $199, but I suspect it could just be targeted in compilation.

Alternatively, if it were possible to make an Open Source client which does not violate the TOS of the API...

I won't make claims that aarch64 will replace x86/AMD64 going forward, but it certainly seems to be the ARM platform of the future. I suppose this would predominantly benefit enthusiasts and tinkerers for the foreseeable future but I know we'd appreciate it none the less.

The webclient is "fine" but things restricted to the desktop client like system wide push to talk would be a significant improvement to the use of Discord on machines like this, as well as presumably less overhead.

As an owner of a pinephone myself, I am forced to use discord alternatives for communication with my friends. Sadly I feel that, as a team that doesn't support linux super well(on x86_64) as well as no support on Aarch64, I will have to find new ways to keep in touch with others online. Even if there is no support for Aarch646, having a mobile online client like desktop has, where you can sign in and do most things from the website. Having this formatted well for mobile would really be great for those who use non IOS/Android mobile operating systems.

What Kirfkin said above, arm is the future for so many things. It only makes sense for thin and lights to switch to arm based processors, they are more power efficient(much longer battery life) and cheaper to manufacture. I don't think it will replace the gaming computers, no way, but it is replacing the school laptop, and maybe down the line mobile phones too, more than just developers.

Sadly the restrictions of non-open source software(non free/libre software) is that there will not be support on all platforms. I would love to see a way to do something like a discord bot, where you can setup an api for your personal account, to be able to interface the messaging app of choice for those of us in the community who wish to use our own open source alternatives to the discord official app that is not fully supported on linux x86_64, and not at all supported on linux aarch64.

Discord's policy of disapproving of third-party clients makes the lack of platform support kind of unacceptable.

Please, Discord? At least give me the option of not getting banned on my aarch64 Pinephone when i get it?

Please catch up with the times and provide a 64-bit ARM client for Linux.

I hate to say it but, I am leaving discord little by little. Noting how discord TOS is very restricting, especiall with not beimg allowed to use 3rd party clients. I have started to move to discord alternatives that are open source and therefore cross platform, as well as more privacy protecting and that has more freedom. Platforms like matrix can do everything that discord can do, and has many clientd that are multiplatform. Sadly if Discord doesn't step up and fix their policies or their clients, then discord will lose a lot of their userbase to matrix.

Another thing. Discord is a program for gamers, which gamers want the best performance possible, execpt that they use electron, which ia extremely resource intensive. Kinda small brain for that not going to lie. The client sucks and lags like crazy, and there is no solution if you want better performance and stay with Discord.

I am not endorsing alternatives like matrix, but sadly it has come down to thw fact that I can't use discord on my phone or laptop due to intentional lack of support.

Yes please, don't let this ticket die! We need an AArch64 build. Electron runs on AArch64 Linux, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem. Pls devs, we beg you!

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm using a Matrix bridge to get Discord texts on my Pinephone right now. A bit of work to set up, but it works ok.

I'd still like to be able to have native Discord tho. Even if it might not be mobile optimized.

There is open source discord electron builder available on github. The are releases for windows, and linux arm64, armv7 and i386, and x86_64 (google is your friend)

There is so many arm based devices on linux right now and numbers is growing. I bought pinephone for myself and really hope Discord will run on it just like on android or desktop linux devices
