I have spent a while reading the feedback so far on the new mobile UI, and thought I'd give another thread to summarize the community's thoughts without taking the dev team on a witch hunt.
Between 98 and 99.9% of feedback hates the new UI. I did find one, maybe two people who genuinely like it.
Many users find the new UI difficult to navigate, with complaints ranging from a phone layout leaving too much space on a tablet to the channel bar being right next to soft buttons from the OS to in-call icons being ovals and out of the way.
While many people experience lag, those of us with enough computing power to recalculate the entire screen each frame while sliding do not experience this problem. This problem is compounded by the entire screen's tendency to fly off to one direction or the other when users only want to scroll up or down.
The new UI is not accessible, causing meltdowns in the Autistic community and messing with ADHD. I, myself have relied on Discord as a way of communicating with my family while in a nonverbal state and am unable to use this update because it is massively triggering.
I have not recognized any Discord staff responding to any of the feedback on the new UI beta testers and now normal users have been giving for the past week. The mobile feedback section is almost to the fourth page of the index. A couple of these topics have almost reached 50 up votes.
More than a few people are downgrading or canceling Nitro over this change, others are looking for another platform altogether.
While most users want the old UI back and aren't interested in anything else, a few feedback threads have proposed a switch between the old and new UI. A couple have even linked to instructions to manually install an old version of the app (Android only).
In conclusion: we love the platform, but we hate the direction it's been going the past few updates, and people are getting angry. Please, Discord, address the discord in your userbase.
