I think the boost model as it is currently is completely ridiculous and is much in need of reworking. Currently, our server for an old game has under 2k members, none of which boosts our server. We are currently boosting our own server to level 1 for the +50 emoji, but even 100 emoji is very limiting for our purposes. The animated emoji perk is completely useless to us because no one can even use them since none of them (aside from 1 member) are even Nitro subscribers because it is very overpriced for most people with bloated features that they don't want. In order for us to add more emoji, it would cost us nearly $60 PER MONTH (using Nitro Classic discount) to get to boost level 2. The jump in required boosts from level 1 to level 2 is over 7 times more. The cost for level 2 is held up by the more expensive features on Discord's end like 50MB upload limits and 1080p video. Features that our server doesn't really need.
What Discord should do is have multiple goalposts and price perks accordingly. So let's say you get +25 emoji every boost (let's be real, this costs virtually nothing), then maybe +25 animated emoji say every 2-3 boosts and this should unlock for all members to use on the server. For upload limits, how about a 15MB limit at 5 boosts, 25MB at 10 boosts, 50MB at 15 boosts, 65MB at 20 boosts, 80MB at 25 boosts, and 100MB at 30 boosts. The 1080p 60fps live streams can stay at 15 boosts.
This would incentivize more boosting if there were more perks between the current boost levels. As it is right now, boosting a server is a complete waste of someone's money if other members didn't pitch in to reach the next level. People also cannot gift individual boosts to us that we could then use on future months to maintain our boost level 1. So maybe add some kind of monthly boost queue option or something for people to cover the costs to maintain a boost tier for the next available month.
