2FA Lockout solution

Dear Discord

The 2FA Lockout issue is getting out of control, the 3 options (Authenticator app, Backup codes, and SMS verification) isn't gonna cut it. To solve this long-time issue, have the SMS verification and the email version on by default, this will surely get a lot of people back in control of their accounts. That is my suggestion to you Discord, I'll wait until you add this feature.

    To change your account all you need is a password. You can do anything with it even change email wihout confirmation by email

    ah yes, all you need is your password; it would be awfully inconvenient if I had to factory reset my phone, my auth app wasn't connected to my discord anymore, and I attempted to reset my password. I would have been unable to get into discord on my phone if I didn't happen to have my password saved because I completely forgot my password. I also didn't save the backup codes beforehand because I didn't even know those existed, and I wasn't given the option to use SMS auth even though I have it linked. I could only auth with the app or one of the backup codes. So yeah, I almost got locked out of my discord account because of this.

    It's insanity how they don't have any other way to recover an account it's the most basic feature any system must have every other thing you have to register on you must have some ways to recover and the most insane thing they told is that they can't recover my account because they can't prove that I'm the owner then WHY they can delete it with no problem if you can't prove that I'm the owner of the account you can't also just delete it

    I am still waiting for them to create a solution for this. They need to stop whatever other updates they are working on and drop a new solution for this instead.

    I agree.

    I recently lost my account because I deleted my passkey and forgot to screenshot my backup codes, and I wish that they would add something like that. It sucks a lot, I do wish that I could log in again.
