an alternative would be to set up automod to block the ping and exempt that channel or channels

personally I think that the usernames should NOT be case sensitive but they definately should allow other characters

Forum channels already have tags, I am not sure what you are refferring to

I like this idea. It would be especially useful for if you had a gated channel (waiting room channel) like I do and you want to have entry staff who are only displayed seperately in that channel.
