Filter/Sorting Suggestions on "Direct Messages" section

I always use the direct messages section to see my friends and my most recent chats to my friends, rather than the friends tab, because DMs is the default thing that opens for me. So either incorporating a filter the filters out group calls or an option to archive old group chats without deleting them would be nice. A sorting feature would also work. Something like a tab that lets you choose "DMs -> Group chats" or "Most recent" or "Most active/most used". Any way this is incorporated would make this even more useful of a section.
