Something to strive for, with the UI
There is a piece of software I've used off and on since 2017, by the name of the Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network, or CKAN for short. It's the mod manager for Kerbal Space Program, and it's special to me for a few reasons.
Firstly, despite being around since 2014 (that's 9 years ago), its UI remains almost entirely unchanged. Said UI is also utilitarian to a fault, and frankly preferable to the rounded corner hellscape we're living in.
Secondly, CKAN has never once let me down. There has never been a point in time where I've thought “gee, I wish I could do this thing but CKAN doesn't allow for that.” The software has also never released an update that made things worse, and even if it had done so I would still be able to download an older version of the executable and turn automatic updates off!
And finally, it has never once whined to me about giving it money. I don't care if you're jingling keys in front of my face like “look at this cool animated profile banner, don't you want-" Shut.
Did you know the nitro gift popup requires you click the X to close it instead of pressing escape or clicking outside the window?
It's the only popup that's like that.
I've joked that we should go back to IRC, but with every new thing that nobody asked for or wants, that becomes less and less of a joke.
Stop it.
Get some help.
