Moderation options
I run a very small Discord but I am outright shocked at the moderation options or lack thereof on Discord. How could this platform ever get as popular as it is lacking such basic functionality? Am I missing something? Here's my current feedback/gripes:
- Moderators should be able to edit other peoples comments - if someone posts a spoiler, we should be able to just mark out a portion of the message
- And view the edit history of a message -!! it makes no sense that someone could post something horrible others can see it and summon admins to the server to delete it and they could edit their message to say something else and we would have no knowledge or way of seeing it!?
- Moderators should be able to mark users photos as sensitive material/spoilers - if its something the moderation team feels is okay to post but may be sensitive or a spoiler
- Users cannot flag messages to us for administrators to see They have to manually tag us which removes the anonymity. Users should be able to mark things as offensive and have it ping the moderation team or go into a queue somewhere
- It would be good to be able to move posts into another channel but I can see this being a complicated feature request
- We can timeout users - but we should have a way to communicate to them why they are timed out. The message box says it will not show to the user - and some users love to say they were banned but have “no idea why”.
- We can change users' nicknames but then they can just change it again? What is even the point? Server nicknames should be customizable by the users but then if they have one assigned by an administrator it should stay locked until removed by the admin.
I thought Discord was really popular but the lack of basic functions keeps surprising me and making me want to move our server to some other platform. Just my thoughts - maybe some of these options are hidden somewhere?
