    Lauracc889,

thanks for replying! Can you explain what do you mean by general support? I had just filed another ticket in during this time. Do you mean under ‘Help and support’? I did before and unfortunately got the response stated in the post by Clyde.

Just keep trying, it's going to be stressful and hard, but if you still have a way to contact friends and servers, do so. Tell them your account was hacked and to not respond to the account as the person will try to read through past DMs and try to trick them out of their accounts as well. It's hard, but just keep trying. Some people got their accounts back fast, others had to send in over 52 tickets in the span of 2 months. If you didn't have nitro, it's more likely the scammer will simply use your account to spam message others then leave it alone. But if you did have nitro, they may try to change the name to a staff member to trick others, however, you can go through billing as well and explain you were stolen from, that might make people jump on it faster at Discord. There are plenty of people who have fallen for this, myself included. Some people on the feedback here and on reddit have advice that helped them while others are still trying. Just keep trying but don't have multiple tickets open at once, that just makes the bot auto close them. Don't let this consume you, it's gut wrenching, I know, but try not to get too overwhelmed or buried in retrieving the account at this time as it'll do worse things for your mental health.

    NaptimeNyx,

Arghh thanks you're so nice, I hope you'll get back your account soon enough as well! Yes, I've already told the friends that I have contact with to tell our mutuals. If I may ask, how long has this been going on for you and do they really read through past dms because I have sensitive information there and it worries me.

No problem at all. I'm happy to help. I for one know how badly this can consume a person.  I've been trying to regain my account since the 2nd of July. From what I gather from my what my friends told me, the person reads just enough to try to pretend to be the person they hacked then try to trick the person they're talking to to change their email like they likely did with you and I originally with the scam. They also mainly go after people you don't talk to very often instead of your recent friends dms. This is just a theory, but I assume that's because a more recent dms means more trouble than it's worth in tricking someone.  (my og big post was pending approval so i gotta break it up, apologies fi suddenly there's a lot that's sent.)

Also, it's recommended to not comment on the support ticket that says it's bee escalated. After responding to the initial ‘respond to this with a reply or it'll be closed’, don't respond again unless you for sure are talking to someone as that can cause the ticket to be pushed back into the queue again, stupid, I know. Also, the ‘humans’ you may get are Aly, Robert, Khamile, Clefairy, Harriet, even some weird pepper names. It's marked with a name and supposedly a real person, but they honestly give premade responses too it seems. Be careful with things as they could mark you as spa, so only have one ticket open at a time. If it closes, respond to reopen it, but if it remains closed, just make another ticket. I've been in contact with others on reddit and the feedback page too. Someone who was scammed lost their account for over 2 months but after 52 tickets by a miracle got it back. Another recent contact lost their account and had to contact discord for over 4 months.

The support isn't very supportive at all, but normally, it seems as if the person leaves the account alone after spamming enough people.  But if you had nitro, it's best to check all your connected accounts to lock them out before they steal any data. They also may spam a server or two outside of dms, but otherwise they don't mess with stuff from what I've been told. Some of your messages from your main account may eventually be marked with ‘hidden hidden from likely spammer’ but usually that's kind of a good thing. Once they think they have scammed or spammed enough people, the account goes offline and remains left alone.  It's not a guarantee, but still gives some peace of mind on them not messing with anything.

(didn't let me send this all together, oofy, the system is weird)

    NaptimeNyx,

Thanks for the insight! In my case, I think they went for everyone in my friendlist as I've heard from people that I talk to almost everyday were also affected. Though, i'm unsure if they still use my account since their own display name was changed with their profile picture removed (it might've been disabled).

I recently got the email that it is being escalated, do I leave it alone? I got this twice once before from ‘Ralph Wiggum’ but they said they were unable to do anything. At least the experiences from others gives some sort of hope for it to be retrieved despite the long wait.

May I ask if you had received bot replies from Clyde before saying 'they're unable to do anything' or ‘to make a new account'? The first reply came after it was escalated by ‘Ralph Wiggum’ so should I be concerned?

(No worries! Thanks for this! :) )

    Ryox,

No worries, I'm glad to help. I'm sorry they're going after your friendslist people.  Oofy. It can be quite the mess.  They might have left your account alone by now if they think they've spammed enough people, now it'll just take time to regain the account with how bad support is for discord.

It has been recommended to me that it's best not to respond to the escalation email. Just let it sit there, otherwise it'll move you back in the queue. It may make it closed and you may get an email that says they can't do anything more than the initial message, but that happens for everyone, even those who got their account returned, so just keep trying. If need be, take a day or so before the next ticket and then send it to see if that helps anything.

Yes, I and many others have gotten those messages from Clyde, but just keep trying. It's just a dumb auto response at this point that they have for the system that gets sent to everyone, but even those that were sent that were able to get their account back. But truthfully, it may take a month or more depending on if Discord Support gets off their butts to get a real person to look at stuff. There's a lot of ‘human’ bots that respond or are assigned tickets, yet some get closed without any assigning which gets aggravating.

I fell for the same scam, if someone got their account back, can someone explain how? Discord support doesn't help at all.

    NaptimeNyx,

I see, I've been currently waiting on a reply and will update if there's any positive outcome. I wish for you to regain your account soon enough cause it seems like it's more based on luck at this point. I've heard that this scam has been widespread as of recently, is this true or was this always an issue? The only obvious scams I've seen were the nitro ones so I was unfamiliar when this occured.

    LittleMourner,

I've not gotten my account back but I have insight from speaking to someone who have on here. They have submitted a ticket about their hacked account and asked if they could speak to a human.

When receiving a reply from Clyde, they said that their dsicord email was changed and that the login page said they couldn't login. A person then replied with ‘Our team conducted an investigation and has reverted your account to your original email.’ where you could change your password.

    Ryox,

Thank you. I wish you a swift reply as well. Yes, in the recent months this has been a newer scam. I hadn't seen anything on it until after the fact either. It seems it really started to spike more earlier in the year around the time Discord layed off close to 17% or 170 people in different departments in January to “downsize” and help “workers efficiency” yet we see where that has led to.

However, Discord has been aware of the issue in the last bit. In the hacked account section, it wasn't until the recent 2 months or so that the “Somene impersonating staff” was an option to put down. It wasn't until 8 days before the 2nd of July (when I started looking for help after my account was hacke) that Discord reddit had updated to include the hack/scam that is affecting so many people.

    ryox,

did you reply to the clyde responses to re-open your tickets? i tried replying to my tickets but they won't re-open.

  • ryox

    Confections,

If you mean replying to Clyde asking for more information, yes I did. The only ones I did not reply to were them ensuring further investigation. If my ticket was marked as solved, I replied to reopen it.

    ryox,

My most recent ticket request was solved after clyde sent me the "Thanks for reaching out — sorry to hear that you're having trouble signing in to your Discord account. We have a few troubleshooting tips that you can try and see if they help: … Unfortunately, if none of these suggestions work, you’ll have to make a new Discord account." response. I replied to that ticket request to try and re-open it but it's still solved. How did you re-open yours?

  • NaptimeNyx

    Confection,

Just keep trying. Everyone gets that Clyde message. If the ticket closes and won't reopen, just make a new one. Usually a comment will reopen the ticket, but sometimes they permanently mark it as solved. Just open a new one. Give some minimum details along with screenshot proof of the convo with the scammer. Even can show that you had the logins but cant sign in anymore. I got my account back today as well after sending in over 22 tickets since the 2nd of July this year.

    my last ticket showed this:

    Subject: Account Email Change

Email info:  Hello, Discord Trust & Safety.

On July 2, someone impersonating a discord staff member convinced me to change my email address in order to clear my account from fake reports of phishing and scamming.

They had told me to change my email address to validationcustody+naptimenyx@gmail.com. By the time I had done this, he got into my account and held it up for a ransom of $150 in order for me to regain access to it. I couldn't pay that much money, so he managed to log me out of my account. Then he began to taunt me, blocking my alt. account with my main account, and started to spam my friends.

The user who impersonated discord staff and tricked me was @official_samuelautrey.

Now, my attached email says that 'email does not exist' when I try to log back in or say I forgot my password. I am getting quite upset due to my account literally being available on my computer and device history to log back into the account.

Is there anything you can do to help me please?

Then I attached the screenshots I had taken of me and the scammer talking. First ticket formatted like this was closed but by a miracle this next one stayed open for a bit and then I got the change email message. It's honestly a lot of waiting and a lot of luck, but just keep trying.

    Confections,

That was my last received reply before I finally got a human response. I made a new ticket as stated :

RE: I was hacked by someone who was impersonating staff.

Hello, my account has been hacked a week ago by someone under the name @susanneassist. They have impersonated discord staff in trying to get money out of me, as well as hacking my account. Please get back to me ASAP, I have more information on this. When entering my email, it is met with 'email does not exist' while my number '(personal number)' is still linked with no sms received.

When met with the auto response from Clyde, I responded with the following :

Hello, I would like to get in touch with a staff member due to my account being hacked. My account email has been changed due to the hacker wanting to provide 'verification' as they accused me of fraud. I would like to change the email of the account @(disc account) as it is now registered under validation.checker1000+129@outlook.com

With that, I got a response saying that they're further investigating my issue.

Edit: Forgot to add, I added a bunch of ss of the hacker's account and my own screenshots. I also provided proof of how they were impersonating staff found online.

    Heybum960,

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I can try to help you, though I can't guarantee it'll work. It's possible to get back your account; disc support is pretty shitty so it'll take trial and error. I can send you my ticket details if you'd like. I'd be late in replies though since i'm busy irl.
