How to protect against these user app spam bots?
our server recently got mass spammed by these, auto mod did not detect these since it was a user who mass used a slash command to run their user app, I tried to ban the App account thing but it did nothing, how does someone protect against this?
we have the external apps thing disabled but they still able to spam?

It might be an external app a member has attached to their account, you can disable usage of external apps for specific channels/roles. Sadly it's on by default for the everyone role but off for admins and moderators so you have to enable it for one of these first (very odd, I put up feedback about it earlier).
If this doesn't work I'd just remove this user's permission to @ everyone. (I recommend turning this off for most members of your servers in general, it's a very simple way to prevent spam.)0
