Discord app should be on Amazons store!
It needs to be on AMAZON'S store so we dont have to use browser's.
Those that have amazon devices are closed off!

Would love to see this as an app to be downloaded to say, Kindle Fire. A friend of mine has a Fire and was quite disappointed to find out that Discord couldn't be obtained as an app

Why would people down vote this? I'd really like to have it on Fire tablets too.

I strongly agree with this! Currently, I have to use an APK

Just bought a higher end Fire and was disappointed to find it didn't have discord support. I want to use this as my main tablet

I agree, Discord should be added to Amazon Appstores. Just because it's on other mobile app stores does not mean Kindle Fire users can have access to this wonderful app

FestiveZynth: Did you sideload Google Play Services or does it work without it?
MoonlightCapital: They do accept them, as long as you bump the rating to say that it contains that content!

I totally agree with this because the browser doesn't always manage to fit all of the features on the screen. I too often can't access my PMs because its cut off.
I've even tried to get apks for the Google play store Just so I could have the app
It's incredibly annoying trying to navigate the browser and honestly ruins the feel of the amazing service

Any dev wanna comment about this incredible lack of support here? As far as i know it's up to the devs to publish this to Amazon for use by this audience, that is basically ignored for well over a year now.
Discord can be on iOS, Mac, PC, and Android... but not a branded Android?... Well that's totally BS, i know you guys aren't incompetent or lazy, you're updating more frequently than Firefox ever did!

Yes! I agree with this thread. Definitly add it i would love it on the amazon app store.

@staticgerbil i have been using discord on my fire phone for about 2-2 1/2 years now. apkpure is where i download most of my apps from and never had a problem. As for updating, i have updated probably a handful of times throughout the time installed. never had any issues with the app not being the most recent version, if something acts strange then update and it should fix the problem, as i said though never had any problems with an outdated app version.

Im a amazon fire tablet owner, I got discord and google play, But now. Bugs and glitches everywhere.

I recently asked the support team about this too. I don't have a compatible phone and my laptop is super glitchy and slow. I use discord to speak with important friends and loved ones, and my life would be so much easier (especially if i need to travel somewhere) if discord was available on Amazon devices.

I agree on this, since instead of using paypal or credit card to pay for things such as Discord Nitro, you can use amazon credits for people that don't have credit cards! Its a good way to pay for things you can't pay for with credit cards, banks, paypal, and other things.

I just have to agree so much here that Discord should be in the Amazon App store. It's such a basic and popular program to use these days that it seems essential that it should be there. I really wanted to get a Fire Tablet, but if it can't run Discord then that's the only thing holding me back.

we need discord on amazon tablet

How do you update the APK when discord updates? @retrø

Discord can be side loaded to the Amazon Fire 10 HD and work in an unrestricted profile. Since the app source isn't from the Amazon store it cannot be added to a child's profile in FreeTime. The is a the big problem. Is there a reason it can't be available from the Amazon Store?

I'm also in a situation where I can't access the Google Play store on my device but I do have access to the Amazon store so this would be great for me.
A direct apk download would also suit my needs.
For anyone using apkpure (which is linked above), is there a way to verify that the apk you are downloading has not been tampered with and is in fact identical to the one distributed via the Google store? I would have a lot more trust in sideloading an apk if it came directly from Discord.

But @Looney thats only for non branded android.
So amazon users cant get discord?

I agree strongly. Owning a Fire tablet may be cool, since you can read numerous books on it where you go, but I definitely don't see why Discord wouldn't be a good addition to the Amazon Appstore! Poor old me has to Discord on my laptop, sadly. Hopefully the Discord crew will reason with the guys behind Alexa! 😁

I remember being said Amazon doesn't accept apps containing NSFW content, so Discord should have to work to remove them from the Amazon app if it happens. 0 -
Use @retros apk for fire tablets!!!! It works i now use it!!!

Hi there,
Not sure if this will make it through, I've tried posting a couple of times but it never seems to go live.
Similar to Nafryti's solution, I had success using applications like Aurora Store
http://auroraoss.com/
https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.aurora.store/
https://gitlab.com/AuroraOSS/AuroraStore
The reason I use something like that rather than sites like APK Mirror is that the tools are open source and directly pull apk files from the Google Play Store using the play store APIs, so I know my app is up to date and I can be (blindly) confident that nothing malicious is going on with anything I'm installing.
You can also use Aurora anonymously (you don't have to setup or even have a Google account) to get free apps, however you will need to log in to get paid apps.Perhaps APK sites have ways to verify their downloads haven't been tampered with? I'm not sure, not saying Aurora is better, just a similar solution which might fit some people better.
Enjoy :)
Edit:
Looks like my other post did eventually go through, I watched it for a couple of weeks and gave up. It was on a different thread though.0 -
@staticgerbil Alternatively, you can do as mentioned in my link above and grab the Play Store APK Installers (four in total) directly from Google and install them with a bit more knowhow of Linux CMD's.
HOWEVER, after installing the Play Store this way, it prompts you to update it, and it does that on its own, so, now my apps update automatically.
That being said, Discord is a bit wonkey on the FireOS, like, the pop ups for joining channels are anchored at the bottom in portrait mode, and if you're in landscape mode you'll never see them. And there are graphical artifacts when navigating channels, otherwise, a Beta experience indeed.

I agree with Moonlight Capital, but they accepted netflix, and they have some rated R films. If they accepted netflix, they should accept Discord. Not to mention the fact that it would stop SOME rooters of the kindle fire which they also HATE.

Also, I forgot to mention, Fire OS is Android 5. It's lollipop. I've run discord on a fire 7 5th gen kids edition and it works perfectly. Some call problems since the tablet isn't built for VOIP and VOIP calls make some androids overheat (fellow Galaxy S9+ owners beware!). It would be insanely easy to port discord to Fire OS as the APK file can be read and installed on it's clone-counterpart android. The only problem is Amazon. If they don't like it then fire owners are out of luck and doomed to use an APK that is not optimized for their system, but still never the less WORKS.

My guess: We can already see the struggles with updating discord on amazon... More Help
