User Side server membership management
Had a server that I couldn't actually join cause it was capped out (thus in outage). Then I wanted to remove myself but that requires being able to *access* the server, which wasn't possible in the single server outage state. Even if the action of removing myself was just queued up, and removed the server from my viewing, until the change could be pushed to the server side when communication was restored.
Having multiple systems interacting with one-another like Discord does, I completely understand the structure that Discord has in place for server/user management. It is clear to me from a purely end user perspective, that each Server/Guild is run seperately from the user side, and we are just merely connecting to a server instance that we are listed as a member in. Having said that, the membership "relation" between the "user" and "server" "databases" should be a two way street.

A good example of this falls from Facebook: I don't have to navigate to a persons page to unfriend them, I can go to my friends list and remove them there. Understanding that Discord handles the types of data they have, in a different fashion that Facebook, the functionality of those relationships could very much be similar. 1
