List servers alphabetically showing name instead of icon
Seriously, that this is not a feature already, really disappoints me. I dont care about little circle pictures. Icons. What I prefer is a list of servers by name, sorted alphabetically on the left column, instead of circle icons that i cant even sort. We all have hundreds of discord servers, so not being able to list them by name instead of ICON (no circley pictures, ok?) is very frustrating. Allow us to make the left column WIDTH RE-SIZABLE and list servers BY NAME with re-sizable FONTS of our choice. I code it myself if you gave me the source code. So lets get this done soon please.

So many servers would abuse this to hoist themselves to the top. What’s wrong with the current system where **you** sort them to determine the order? Also, you can search by server name which isn’t that time consuming. Especially compared to scrolling through a bunch of servers to get to the bottom of the list.

Torbjorn, good point, for that reason, this shouldn't be implemented.
However to assist you, if they end up officiating the whole "server organizer" by the use of folders idea, you can organixe your servers alphabetically for yourself. You can also do that now if you'd like, you'd just have to do it by yourself.

just an abbilitie to show servernames next to or below icons would be nice, lots of servers change their icon too often

I would go so far as to include a setting that sticks across all apps. I am one who also does not want to drag stuff, mainly because I cannot. sorting by name or date created etc would be nice for those of us who read text and not icons. I'm visually impaired so cannot drag servers in aBC order like that. Please consider this?

Torbjörn: You are erasing the expedition of organization done in a split second through alphabetically listing to argue in favor of doing it manually. Thats like saying why dont you go into a library, where all the books are in randomized order, and write down all the books so you can reorder them. This is going backwards in efficiency, not forwards. How can someone can suggest this when everything in the data we use can be organized in such a fashion? Icons can be changed, but the names cannot. This is also determining for others how they process information instead of letting the user decide for themselves. Again, moving backwards, not forwards. If there is some kind of abuse from this, "hoisting to the top of what? global discord server list?" I'm not understanding. Server discord names remain the same, ie, the discord channels and user content is tied to 1 name. If you want to change that name, you have to create an entire discord server and repopulate it with content. You cannot otherwise rename the discord server. So what is this abuse? Is it in each individual users discord browser? Is it it somewhere else? How does the very function of automatically alphabetizing a list that is already textual ? Im not convinced. And if there is some kind of abuse there, Im not convinced that moving backwards in organizational capability is an appropriate solution when much suffering is created from removal of said organizational capability. Again, how many servers are you connected to? How many do you connect to in a day? week? year? Was this taken into account at any point? Some people connect to a thousand in a year easy. Why? Because there are THAT many games out there using discord, that many regions/servers per game, that many guilds / groups per region/server. But no, lets remove the simple alphabetical listing and sorting capability that is involved in every step of computing and internet processes from coding to browsing to how we display information in almost all aspects. Yeah, that sounds completely insane to me. And here we have another user with visual impairment, mentioning the ability of servers to change their very icons as well. What do you say to him? "Eff you, we dont need to think about people like you?" From where I am standing, it just seems like either lazy coding, or if calculated, done as a poor solution for a problem that wasnt well thought out.

Hey, small correction. I am a her., but anyway, thanks. I just tried today to organize manually and made folders by accident and now I need sighted help to take the folders away. There is no accessibility though into this at all. I might actually start another thread about that disaster of a mess. I like the direction discord are going for accessibility, but please at least make a toggle for those of us who either cannot due to visual and other disabilities drag servers, or who want an easy way to organize hundreds of servers.

There should be the OPTION to at least alphabetize. It is very hard to keep track of all the servers a person is in if they are in 30+ servers. I personally categorize things into 2 big folders of "friends" and "big servers" but inside those folders, it gets very crowded and disorganized. I think the option should be available. Manually alphabetizing everything would take WAY too much time.

Yes, please! This is pretty much my only major complaint with Discord. PLEASE make it an option to list them by name rather than avatar, as well as an option sort them by recent activity or name, or maybe even manually.

Yes, PLEASE let me display server names instead of / in addition to icons. I use Discord MUCH less than I otherwise would for ONLY this reason. I've got dozens of servers and I literally can't tell what any of them are without having to mouseover them.

Please make this happen, i don't need to sort it alphabetically or whatever, but i want to see list of names instead of icons, just make it dropdown menu with my own folders, even folders in folders would be nice, im lost in the current folder system, with so many icons i can't remember which server has which icon and they even change it a lot it would be really awesome to see the names, thanks.

The lack of this option makes Discord one of the most frustrating pieces of software I've ever had the misfortune of using. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to use it...

this is why i still prefer Telegram. i just need to read server names as quickly as possible and to be able to switch servers as quickly as possible. not hover on icons just to see which server i'm going. (which it might some server change its icon) this feature must be under accessibility.

But having the ability to display servers as text instead of some cryptic icon would be a big improvement. Don't understand how this is not already an option, and looks unlikely to ever be addressed anyway, but oh well

I came here to say this too -- the large icons on the left hand side are very cumbersome. I don't care what the server has set some arbitrary logo to be. I want to see it in TEXT. I also want to CONTROL it because it's *my* interface.
The root of this enhancement request is to put the server names in TEXT. So that they are easily collapsible, and easily sortable (IF the user wants to sort! or reorder!). By default, probably not a good default, but this is definitely a power user feature.
Please consider implementing a "TEXT VIEW" of the server's names.
