Suggestion - "Honesty Indicator"

Hi, I use discord a lot to talk to friends, and it seems like there are features in place to support interpersonal privacy (offline mode, unlisted servers, choosing not to display the game you're currently playing, etc) but virtually no features to support interpersonal trust.

I know there are circumstances where you don't want people on your friends list knowing you're playing a game, or knowing that you're online at all, and that's fine. People have certain needs for privacy sometimes, and I'm glad there are features in place to help meet those needs.

I have a need for my friends to trust that I'm being honest with them. My idea for a feature is basically just another online-mode indicator, like the little green dot, except it has some additional feature - a ring or a star or something in the middle. This additional info is displayed by default, but as soon as a user chooses to appear offline or invisible, they lose the ability to ever have that special dot or star again.

The purpose this fills is letting other users know when someone wants to be completely honest and open about their time. I think it might cause some server drama, but I believe it'd prevent a lot more of it. There have been times for myself or others where some mutual friends thought we were just appearing invisible and ignoring DMs while we were actually offline and away for a few days. This problem kind of grew out of control because there was no way for us to prove our honesty - no little "honesty circle" or dot or anything. If we'd been able to just come back online and have that marker intact, it would have explained everything easily.

There are some people who want to be able to appear offline who may feel alienated by this suggestion, they may feel uncomfortable with people thinking they're being "dishonest" about their time. I'm sorry. To be honest, I'm uncomfortable when people think that I'm dishonest too, but I don't use the invisible-mode feature so I feel like I have some justification in how I feel.

I wish appearing offline wasn't even a feature at all, but I understand that some people want and need it. I, however, want and need some way to prove that I'm not using it. Thanks for reading.
