Separate Role Listing Depending on Channel and/or Category
Hi! I am currently working on a server for a Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) guild on the Imperial side. I had the Discord roles set up so players could be sorted by rank in the members list, which worked just fine and dandy until some higher-ups in the guild decided to create a Republic side guild as well. The new channel structure of the server is like this (where side-specific channel/category access is granted through the roles 'Empire' and 'Republic'):
- Imp- and Pub-Side Chats (shared between both Imperial and Republic members)
- #a-bunch-of-channels
- Imp-Only Chats
- #a-bunch-more-channels
- Pub-Only Chats
- #even-more-channels
However, I have one little issue. Since I have the Discord roles set up so players can be sorted by rank in the members list, the members list will become quite unruly once we get the Republic side filled up. I would like to be able to sort the member list by 'Republic' or 'Empire' roles in the shared channels to reduce mayhem, but I would also like to be able to sort the member list by actual rank in the side-specific channels to reduce confusion in those channels. However, there is no functionality to set member sorting by channel or category.
EDIT: I just noticed another issue resulting from the current sorting. If a player has a higher rank on the Republic side than on the Empire side (or vice versa), the player will be categorized as the Republic rank on the Empire-side channels (or vice versa).
Here is my suggestion: Add channel- or category- specific member sorting. If the channel/category-specific member sorting is not set up for the channel or category, then the default member list sorting specified by the setting in the Roles server settings would be put into effect.
