Official post on Reddit is not a satisfactory response - it's a PR stunt that hurts users

This is not okay.
1. It's hard to believe such a carefully worded PR-style response that doesn't actually address concerns was crafted or even said by an engineer
2. Bugs get fixed and code gets updated all the time, people understand that development is iterative. But that doesn't address concerns about you choosing to add annoying features that break usability and adversely affect user experience.
3. You even go as far as to say you're not making any promises that any part of this is going to be rolled back.
It's time for transparency. As communication paradigms evolve all the time, you're not going to last if you alienate your userbase with ideas from the Bay Area that don't fly everywhere. Do not expect users to fall in line to whatever you propose.
Remember products like Teamspeak, Skype for Business, Mumble, Slack, TeamViewer.. you will end up killing your offering along those lines if you keep ignoring users and push updates for the sake of improving some unwieldy business metric.

the entire update should be rolled back, and they dont want to admit theyve made a mistake
