Quick React Bar Revisions

Please. Please I'm dying. Please give me an option to disable this. Or something.

Or, alternately, make it more aesthetically appealing. Please align it with the exact top of the message, or at least make it safely several pixels above the text for that message. When hovering over a message that isn't the first in a message group, it's so annoying and makes things hard to read because it sits right on the very top pixel of the text, ruining the outline of it and making it more difficult to read. But I think it should align so that the bottom of the Quick React bar is sitting snugly on top of the darkened Message Hover box. Please please please implement this, I'm having a really hard time reading messages because of it, and I like to hover my cursor over text to keep my place. This shouldn't even be hard to do. This is part of why I hate anything that appears on hover, because it makes it really hard for me to read stuff.

Also, can I have options for it? Please? I have a few ideas.

1. Pin specific emojis into it. The ones I use most commonly in chat are not the same ones I use most commonly to react, and I should be able to pick the ones that will be useful to me. So this bar actually has any semblance of usefulness.

2. Disable specifically the emoji section. It will still appear as normal, but smaller because it won't have the three emojis in it. This would be a great option and I think could be a good compromise for most people who hate it.

3. Just give us an option to set it back to how it was before this UI change that added it. That was nice, streamlined, and didn't get in the way or draw unnecessary attention to it. I also liked how the reaction button was always in a consistent, easy-to-predict spot, whereas with this, because it's either up in the Username space or sitting right on top of the text, it's harder to click instinctively if I want to, you know, actually react quickly. Instead, I can overshoot the box, lose it completely on that message because I got off the message and the box, and then have to spend extra time moving back down to the message before I can move back up to the box. Sure, maybe not a huge inconvenience, but I hate hover menus for this reason. I much prefer click menus. 

4. On that note, it wouldn't be so bad if you had to double-click a message to get the react bar to pop up, and it'd stay until you reacted, switched channels, or double-clicked a message again. This would be a really great in-between for people who hate it and people who love it. I really don't like that it appears on hover-over. As I've said before, that makes it get in the way and obstructs text and can allow for obnoxious over-shooting. Or this would be a great option. You know, the same way you have to hover over gifs for them to play, unless you have Gif Autoplay enabled. Things appearing and moving without my consent isn't fun.

I still don't like the quick react bar by any measure. And it's been at least two weeks. I've definitely given it a chance and had time to get used to it. And I'm not saying take it away completely. Just please change it, at least, to be more aesthetically appealing and fully or partially disable-able. I think perhaps I could like it, if you would implement some of these changes to make it less obnoxious. I'm certainly not opposed to the idea. But I don't like it's current form.

One final note: Allowing it to only exist on double-click could also make it easier to make a larger quick-react bar that may be more functional, because it only appears exactly when you want it to, so I don't think people would mind it taking up a little more screen space. The same way they don't mind the Emoji Menu pop-up taking up more screenspace. Because they chose to activate it.
