[Suggestion] Stop banning accounts if they are in a server that gets banned
My account was recently suspended indefinitely due to the fact that I was in a server that violated the Harassment section of the ToS. I, however, maybe sent a dozen or two messages in that server, and I was mostly unaware of the raiding going on, as the server was muted for me. I’m here to ask that you take more consideration into who’s accounts you suspend, maybe just the moderation and admin teams, not the individual users of a server. It is very frustrating to have an account for almost a year and a half to have it suspended by a server you weren’t aware was violating the ToS. Thank you for your consideration.

I wholeheartedly agree with the expressed sentiments and agree that the suspensions and bans should be limited to the people in charge and participants, not unwitting bystanders with no evidence of hate activity against them.

This is happening more frequently now, and I realise that Discord is very busy, but this does need to be fixed.

I would have the same problem if any of my server starts violating ToS. I am currently in 60+ discord servers. It is not possible to watch all 60+ servers to make sure that none are violating ToS. Yes, I am a mod in a few of these servers. I can understand getting a ban because of one of the servers I mod is violating ToS and the mod team does not stop it or catch it, but a flat out ban just because you were in the server is just wrong. I know that Discord has the ability to look at the participation and chat history in the servers. It needs to be by a individual basis if possible even if it is a temporary ban just to stop the ToS violation and unban people that were not participating in the ToS violations.

Discord has a history of being lazy when it comes to handling server wide issues. A raid on a server is different than a singular person breaking the TOS. It's annoying, frustrating, and flat out dumb. Fix this.

This is so sad.Im on like a hundred servers and I barely visit 10-20 of all of them.This means a server that broke TOS but I had no hand in is going to result in my account getting banned is really a broken system. I could never have known one of my very servers I am in that i never visit is breaking TOS.Get his account back and everyone else's who was wrong fully banned or at least give them a chance at an appeal.Its like saying you will kill all Austrians just because Hitler was from Austria.

I say keep him banned, ban more people in fact! That way there's less competetion for admin on our server.

I agree 100% with this post. On what planet does it make sense to delete accounts that happened to be members of a server that got taken down? The answer is none because it doesn't make sense. This is a major error in the system that needs to be addressed ASAP.

Many of my friends were in a server that had a TOS Violation blanket ban. Their accounts being disabled in such a manner has stressed other communities in discord that are now without moderation. Recent events have obviously had discord see a massive influx of users but a certain level of care and precision needs to be used when applying bans.

The problem with this issue isn't JUST the fact that it happened to one person, it's that it could happen to ANYONE, and that makes it worrying for active accounts that are a part of multiple servers.
There NEEDS to be a way to fix the damage done/could be done to innocent users.
There NEEDS to be a way that can effectively safeguard this from happening to other accounts.
Something HAS to change, otherwise, everyone could become a victim.7 -
It's just not righteous to punish all members of a certain server, while most likely only a few ppl have actually violated the ToS...
How about any servers with a member count of for instance >10k, if just the server owner and lets say 9 persons of their staff are violating terms? That means 9990+ discord users are going to be banished, even though they're not considered guilty?

What's the point of banning every member on a server when a few people on that server break the ToS?? I agree that the people who break it should be banned and punished. Breaking the discord ToS is a bad thing, but banning normal people who are only in the server is just completely rude to those people and useless. The whole point of banning people because they did something bad is gone. It is very sad to see this happen and you will only lose great people on discord by doing this, and many users will be disapointed in you. This is not right. Fix this.

Blanket banning users of an entire community and not just the people behind the TOS Violations is just lazy on Discords part. It does more harm than good.

I’ve been on discord since August 5, 2017. I was here before nitro. I was here before you could search for servers. You guys have been doing a wonderful job with watching who violates your TOS. But.. sometimes, just banning an entire fracking server because a select few? I’m not disappointed in you guys don’t get me wrong. Just disappointed that you guys wipe a whole host of people’s accounts because of one idiot who violates the TOS.

I literally just had this happen to my main, and so far I haven't been able to get any good responses for days, they did a blanket ban on everyone in a 100+ member server and I barely talked there nor did I take part in any of the servers shenanigans, just because the others broke TOS, and they are treating me like I broke TOS even tho I barely had one message in the server, I'm in tons of servers and I can't keep track of every server and when they go too far, and this is making it hard to regain contacts that I have forged over years on the platform, never once breaking a rule to get my account suspended like this. So far any attempts to appeals have returned zero or bots talking back, and it's honestly disheartening.
(Account still exists, but I'm basically locked out due to this blanket ban)

Discord want to pay you more if you pay to nitro you can spam j4j j4j but if you dont have Suspension

Yeah, if a few people start breaking ToS and the whole server gets banned, that's just dumb

I had this situation just a few days ago. Was watching a server for giggles and they did a sort of a raid, and i got banned just by being there, thought i was not a part in the raid
