I think this is a very stupid idea just because people can easily find out if there are people underage especially now and days. There is no need for this action

My friend had MULTIPLE accounts deactivated because some people kept reporting her for being under 13 because they were upset with her and she made a joke about being under 13. It’s a serious issue that should be looked at. (btw, she made a joke that she was 3, and someone took that opportunity to report her, even though she is OBVIOUSLY not 3)

I agree, two of my friends accounts got suspended because they were making jokes about being a 5 year old. Do you genuinely think a 5 year old is going to be on discord? A lot of 5 year olds can't even read! It's irrational to go out of your way to suspend someone over a clear JOKE. I expect better from Discord.

I agree as well, just because somebody jokes about their age doesn't mean they actually are that particular age. Yet so many accounts are being suspended because of harmless jokes. Honestly, why would people the age of under 13 be even on discord? Nevertheless 5, 3, all of those. 5 and 3 year olds are barely even in school, what makes you think they can manage a discord account?

Honestly, there should be a way to verify your age, rather than locking people out of their accounts. Just 1 little joke and boom, you're locked out. Honestly, it's highly irresponsible on Discord's part. It's incredibly unorganized how Discord deals with the underage system. For example, imagine I'm older and I go out in public with my friends and I'm 21, I am allowed to drink and I am out a bar with my friends. Yet, I joke around saying I'm 16 in the bar, and the bar tender asks me to leave, REGARDLESS whether checking my ID or not, which clearly shows I am indeed 21. Therefore, I would have to leave without having a say in the conversation, which is extremely rude. As shown in that example, it is UNFAIR to suspend people without them having a say.

Yes, the whole 13+ thing is good, and I understand the measures you have attempted to take. But WRONGINGLY taking the accounts of people that are clearly over the age limit is not going to solve anything. As stated above, things such as photo ids and certificates of age should be allowed to be sent to Discord BEFORE deactivation/suspension of the account.

People make memories on Discord, they make friends, join communities, and engage in the things they love. But how can we do this if we are logged out of our account due to our age, WITHOUT engaging in a conversation with the person being "convicted"? It's honestly pitiful how 1 joke can delete all of that in a heart beat.

Discord promises an inviting community, ways to make friends, ways to connect with people. Yet, how can we do that when the organization cannot correctly manage our accounts? How can we do all of this when we're LOCKED out of our accounts without a say? How can we do this when the support team openly DISREGARDS victims of this fault? I expect better from Discord, and I hope there will be some changes.

I totally agree. It's not fair to be locked out over someone reporting you out of sheer spite, for no reason other than them not liking you. I rely on Discord for learning about game updates on Roblox, as well as chatting with friends and others who share my interests. People reporting you over a joke or an argument with no proof to say their report is valid, as well as the victim of the report not having any say in the matter, is frankly just stupid and irresponsible, as well as extremely destructive.

It's very stupid, almost as stupid as this Covid-19 shit. I love it here and was thinking of making a joke. But I agree with sending proof of your birth, like Day, Month and Year. If that isn't enough proof them have them get on Fer.al, or any apps you use that PROVE YOU'RE 13

  • Not everyone is gonna like proving your age. Especially if you're sensitive to sharing personal info. But I do agree that people joke and discord needs to take it into account. But then again, proving your age may takes weeks to verify your account because over like 12k accounts are made every day and how is discord going to keep track? Discord needs to just grow up and learn. You know what, how about change the age restriction for 11+. People are mature and age shouldn't matter depending. Just reccomend a parent monitoring a account. It should be that simple and shouldn't have people arguing and other shit.

Honestly this. There are many servers which feel they have to take this exact thing into their own hands when they really shouldn't have to, all because the server owner is the one who gets punished if the natural conclusion of no verification occurs.
