System for choosing who can read/intervene in forum posts

Hello,

I have a suggestion:

It would be nice to be able to put a new system in the forums lounges, it would allow to choose who can read/intervene/see (or there can be other types of permissions to include) in the forums posts.

This would be very useful for a centralized ticket system, a suggestion system, reports, ... and much more

    I came here to post the very same suggestion!  In case it helps, here's the writeup I had ready to post as well: (because I created a ticket first and then found this page)

     

    Love the new Forums feature and one of the Discord servers I help run is already looking to put some forums in place. We found a use case (that would be super useful for us - as a community that collaborates often with other Discord communities) that isn't quite covered by the current Forum setup and I was hoping perhaps the Discord team would consider adding this functionality to a future release. Here goes:

    When we first found out about Forums we thought this would be a perfect way for us to create a place where all our collaborative Discord communities could each get their own thread and our server/community moderators could see and respond in each thread but members of separate Discord communities could only see the thread that contained information about our collaborative events with *them* (not any of the other collaborative communities) based on a role we would assign to members of said communities. So, essentially, each thread within Forums would get its own "who can access this" settings. To perhaps make this clearer, here's an example:

    We have one Forum called "Community Collaboration". Inside we have 4 threads, "TGA Collab", "LLC Collab", "ELN Collab", "EA Collab". These each correspond to different communities that each have their own Discord servers. When we host an event in cooperation with one of these communities (which all already have members in our server) they would be able to chat with our moderators in the thread only they and we can see. Once the event is over the thread would archive itself until the next time we need it for another collab with that group - thus keeping our overall channel list much cleaner (no need to make separate collab channels for each partner community) and all of our collab info in one place (inside the collab forum).

    Hopefully this makes sense and sounds like a worthwhile thing to throw some effort/time at! Would love to see this as a future feature!  Thank you kindly for your time and attention. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out directly. Thanks again!
