Discord allows users to send push notifications to their friends when they start streaming, or ‘Go Live’, in a mutual server. This feature helps users stay connected with their friends and avoid missing out on any streaming action.

For Streamers
NOTE: We are currently experimenting with adding this feature to servers that have up to 50 members
This feature is only available on servers with less than 50 members and for streamers that have verified their phone number or email. Before you start streaming in an eligible server, you will see the pop-up below.
If you would like to send a notification to your friends in this server to let them know that you are live streaming, ensure that the box labeled ‘Notify my friends in this server’ is checked before you click ‘Go Live’. Your preferences will be remembered for next time. After sending a Go Live notification, you must wait at least 15 minutes before you can send another notification, but you can still stream without sending a notification.
Other users will receive a notification that you are streaming if:
- The user is friends with you on Discord
- The user is a member of the server that you are streaming in and has access to the channel where the streaming is taking place
- The user has not received a Go Live notification in the last 6 hours
- The user has not muted the server that you are streaming in
- The user has not disabled push notifications in their settings
For Notification Recipients
If your friend in a mutual server starts streaming and chooses to notify their friends, you will receive a push notification like below:
You can manage your preferences for this push by:
1. Turning on/off all ‘Go Live’ notifications
iOS
a. Navigate to your Notifications settings by clicking on your profile in the bottom right of the app and scrolling to the ‘Notifications’ tab
b. Navigate to the section headlined ‘OTHER NOTIFICATIONS’ and toggle ‘Get notifications when your friends Go Live’ to manage your preferences
Android
a. On your device, navigate to System Settings ->Apps & Notifications -> Discord -> Notifications -> Settings. You should see something similar to the image below. To turn off Go Live notifications, toggle off the ‘Friends’ category
2. Muting all push notifications from a specific server
Desktop/Web
a. Right click on the server that you want to mute and click ‘Notification Settings’
b. Toggle off ‘Mobile Push Notifications’ to stop receiving notifications when your friends begin streaming in the server
Mobile
a. Navigate to the server you want to stop receiving notifications from and click ‘...’ in the top right corner
b. Select ‘Notifications’
c. Toggle ‘Mobile Push Notifications’ to manage your preferences
3. Unfriending the user that is streaming
You can also unfriend a user to stop receiving notifications when they Go Live in any of your mutual servers. To unfriend a user, navigate to Home -> Friends -> find the user you want to unfriend -> click ‘More’ -> click ‘Remove Friend’
4. Turning off all push notifications
We do not recommend this solution unless you would like to stop receiving ALL push notifications from Discord. However, if you would like to stop receiving push notifications from Discord altogether, see [Mobile] Notifications Settings 101 for more information on how to manage your notifications settings.
