[Feature request] Per-group account detail visiblity
Proposal to add functionality for per-group detail visibility
Discord accounts contain various details which may or may not be desired to be shown to everyone that the user is friends or is in mutual servers with strangers. Therefore, it would be beneficial for the user to be able to select what details are shown to specific people - Discord Nitro already has "custom profiles" but that is on a per-server basis. This feature would instead be on a "per-group" basis where the user can specify the participants of each group, this would allow groups for family, 'the boys' - considering the rising popularity of using Discord for school work, also schoolmates and teachers.
The user would be able to add users to these groups and specify whether or not each detail is fetched from the user or a set value. These "details" may include but are not limited to:
1. Name
2. Profile image
3. Current game activity
4. Streaming activity
5. Spotify activity
6. Mutual servers
7. Mutual friends
8. Presence status (online, offline, away, do not disturb)
9. Custom status
10. App connections
11. Badges
12. Banner
This proposed system might be able to reuse the role system for servers.
Note: Detail #1, #2 and #12 might make some Nitro benefits obsolete and might need reevaluation dependent on exact implementation.
The reason for this proposal is for the sake of privacy in times where Discord is becoming an ever more day-to-day service where it was originally designed for gaming, but is now also for schoolmates, teachers, employees, communities, family, and so on. It would be a quality-of-life feature to be able to specify who can see what you're doing and when. This is not to avoid doing work, but rather to be able to distinguish between work, school, and personal time.
This might sound somewhat similar to having multiple accounts with each its own purpose, but should still be easier overall since the user would not have to switch between their accounts and could be easier to mentally manage for some.
