Actionable feedback on the rebrand
This post
I understand that you guys are recieving plenty of pushback from the community right now about the recent rebrand, but these posts usually amount to just saying "change it back, this sucks", so I aim to provide some actionable feedback so you guys can improve.
The Colors
The new colors are great and all, but don't really fit in with the dark theme because they are hard to see. What you can do is use the old color scheme for dark theme users, and the new one for light theme. I actively use both themes depending on the device I use, and the new colors with the light theme look great.
The font
The new logo font, Ginto, is a great font, but doesn't represent the brand very well. I think this font would fit better on a store name or kitchen/home appliance, not as a modern texting app. I think Ubuntu, Roboto or IBM Plex would be better, but these are just ideas. My biggest issue with the new font is it's place in the app. It does not fit well with Whitney, the font used most everywhere else in the UI. It looks very out of place because its constantly mixed between blocks of text that use Whitney. These fonts are similar when bolded, making Ginto seem "off". If you use a significantly different font, this issue can be avoided.
The Logo
The new logo is fantastic, don't get me wrong. However, as an app icon, the top 'forehead' line added some detail that previously filled a space. Now that the line is removed, the app icon feels cheapened or incomplete. Think about removing the Reddit Alien's antenna and putting it in an app icon, it feels very off. I do believe that is doesn't need to be changed because we will get used to it, but maybe consider using a lighter color for the app background. That may help.
