@mention a user with a different font

Why bother adding the ability to change usernames to different fonts in Discord when they can become un-pingable? I've seen mods and admins asking people to change their usernames because of this. Does using the mention option when clicking the person's name not work the same as pinging, or is this not something that's implemented already? Is it something that not many people not about or does it just not exist? I'm curious because I had thought about doing this, but I'm in a server that doesn't let people have different font names because they're un-pingable.
