Need Confirmation on Likely Scam
I was falsely reported by another user on discord named Blake Heart who then contacted me and told me that in order to remove the report from my account I needed to contact someone named Alec Gorge. I contacted Alec Gorge under the belief that the individual was a discord administrator of some sort. Over the course of several hours I attempted to follow the steps I was told were necessary to recover my account. In following these steps I was locked out of my account via an email change. During this time the individual, "Alec Gorge" began asking for more information related to my bank account and bank information, specifically previous transactions and bank overviews. They continued requesting this information under the guise that I had committed "suspicious activity" and needed to provide financial verification of my identity. They also told me I was not allowed to speak to anybody else about this as it would infringe upon company rights. Begrudgingly I complied with these demands as my discord account was connected to much irreplaceable work and data that was too invaluable for me to lose.
This all culminated in them asking to use, first CASHAPP, then PAYPAL to send $500 to a different account gmail account from my personal account in order to "complete the process." They cited a "Digital Services Act validation from FDIC" as the reasoning behind this but upon my own research I was unable to find anything of the sort existing. I had been suspicious of the individual when they began requesting bank information of any kind as "financial proof" but finally decided to report this upon them telling me to deposit money under the guise, "it would be returned upon verification".
As of right now I have submitted at least two tickets with discord, one regarding transfer of a server that account owned that has all my work and one reporting my account to be hacked. The server transfer was denied and the account hack ticket is ongoing.
My question is, is this a scam or not? Because everything about this to me screams scam and I wasn't having any problems with my discord account not had received any notification that I had been reported before engaging with these individuals. $500 is also an obscene amount of money for a verification by federal agents and an amount I not only cannot pay but could not make up if this did turn out to be a scam. Has anyone else been in this situation and if so could you advise on what steps I need to take? I would really like to get my information secured at no financial risk.

You are either bullshitting here or I don't want to sound rude, but if you sent them money thats stupid.
> was told were necessary to recover my account
Where is the email from discord stating you account is at risk?
Why would a discord employee contact you via discord and not email you & send you a system message which is very clearly labeled as such?
Did you even check your account standing?

I am going through this exact same situation but thank god I didn't send any money.
I'm very confused honestly I feel so wronged for trusting a discord moderator (it said they were verified) with my account.
Definitely regretting that decision. Not quite sure what you can really do because the customer service is absolutely horrendous they almost never respond to anyone's tickets.

do you have any updetes on this? im going through the same thing and i also actually sent the money and the support is being no help. i cant even get into my account anymore

This literally happened to me today. I have submitted three tickets already within the span of several hours. One of my friends got scammed too but she was able to get her account back. I was extremely stupid for falling for it and I’m just waiting for another email.

So far nothing. I haven't been able to get anything in the form of an update, not from discord management, not anyone. They haven't even banned the scammer. So I'm about to launch a relentless campaign against discord until I get access to my servers.
I'm sorry you all are going through this same thing. I wouldn't wish this on anybody, especially if they succeeded in getting your money. Discord should have better standards than this. Their support system is terrible.

I blame my own stupidity for this. I might as well make a new account since I have no other choice. I’m gonna be patient but my account is probably a burning ship at this point

Nah, it was a super convincing act, no lie. Posing as a mod, which first off is something I think is absolutely wild discord just lets happen, and getting you to change your email under that guise before asking for money and the threat of your account being shut down making time of the essence? It's a clever ruse anyone would have fallen for, don't beat yourself over it, though you probably do need a new account at this point.

I was so confused when I was being banned for making “illegal purchases” like… Bro what? Anyway I did notice that it seemed fake, like with the weird font they (I don’t know if that changes for android users but it’s noticeable on iOS.) still this sucks. I hope you get your account back dude.

Same to you
How did your friend get her account back?

She got an email from the ticket. They reset her email and had her change her password. I have a feeling that might happen to one of us too

Here's hoping

I received a message about a similar situation. Reported it to Discord Support and was told “This is a social engineering scam. Discord does not request users to contact our staff directly. We are investigating and will take the appropriate actions.” The actual staff was far more professional and timely in their response. Hopefully, this will be resolved soon.

just got this today
is there any way to help me restore my account ?0 -
I received the same scam as well earlier today and almost fell for it but thanks to this thread I was fortunate enough to catch on to what was really happening and as an result was able to lock down my account before anything drastic went south.
You guys are right about this being convincing and being on another level than your typical #randomguy1234 message scam: they were able to make professional-seeming graphics and fake emails and such with the identities of real Discord employees.
In an nutshell, the hackers/scammers are essentially making up an tale using an compromised friend's account and then trying to scare you into handing them your Discord account login info—and when you do so they will hold it hostage until you either pay or don't respond (at that point they will probably still keep your account, it's an lose-lose situation no matter which way).
Whatever you do, do not engage with them, and especially Do Not give them any of your personal information or login/email credentials. If you have done so and still have control over your account I recommend blocking/reporting them and beefing up security immediately.

I even chatted with him on february 16th, i was gonna get banned by somebody on discord who made fun of his account, and wanting me to banned, and be removed from his friends list, i changed my email into something i never seen, and i got locked out, can somebody tell me the email he wanted me to change? i can't remember what it is

Julianconde0412 You won't get help hete on the feedback form as this form is for feedbavk not support requests.
You fell for a scam by another user on discord and. They probably asked you to change your email for your discord account which gives them full control over the account and permanently locks you out with no way to get your account back.
I hope you learned that you shouldn't trust random people on the internet.
If discord wats something from you they will clearly tell you by
- emailing you
- sending you a system message with a popup that is impossible to miss
- your account standing page mihht change to limited and it will tell you why
-1 -
Fuuraraa Likely not. You gave the attacker your account by changing the email.
Also this is the feedback form, not support. If you want anything about this done then contact discord about it by opening a ticket.

But this is for support Blackwolfwoof, alec gorge us the one who did this to us!

Bro chill. Discord support probably has their hands full right now. I’ve submitted a few tickets and I’m still waiting for an email, Blackwolf is right this isn’t the page you should be using. Just submit a ticket and eventually they’ll do what they can.

but how, i am also waiting for a email too, but with alec gorge taken everyone's emails! i am never gonna get it back!

I don’t know what to say. Just be patient I guess.

Lance, i wanna know when my old account will get fixed so i can use it again

I was just hit with this scammer and fell for it but towards the end I had a feeling similar to when I was scammed when I was a few years younger and just found this so I’m glad I looked his name up after the situation but it sucks that a friend had accidentally sent him my way because he wanted to help fix his miss click on a name to ban someone else but got me instead but I’m not mad at my friend just the all be damned scammer

I don’t know Julian. Just submit a ticket and be patient. I wouldn’t spam tickets either but you should provide as much information as you can about the scammer. Look I’m still waiting for an email that will help me get my account back but it’s already been a few weeks. All I know is that my friends got their accounts back when they were scammed by the person using my account. All I can tell you is to submit a ticket with the correct information and wait. You might have to make a temporary alternative account until you get it back. Best of luck

Hello here, I have also been a victim of this scam recently, and I wanted to ask what are the way to get back my account. I feel so stupid of the mistake I made…
0 -
What I have noticed is that he wanted me to change the email with “…+mynickname@gmail.com” with “…” being either the name or the guy or something like “supportdiscord”. Did someone had the same thing?
0 -
FlixBusKawaii Create a support ticket with discord.
What they did by the way is create an email address with gmail and then asked you to tramsfer account ownership to them basically permanently locking you out of your account.
If they control the email, they can reset your password and gain access to your account
0 -
Okay i'll try to do that, thanks.
I also want to provide the information (if it has not been provided earlier) that if you get victim of that, you cannot create a new account with your old email adress, but when you try to change your password, it says that the email adress is invalidate.0 -

Can someone confirm that he is saying bullshit?
0 -
FlixBusKawaii Why don't you block them. They are not discord, they are not the fbi, they are just a user like me and you.
Block them, rightclick the messages they sent and hit report and open a ticket to discord on here.
If your account is ever in risk of something you will get
- an email from noreply[at]discord.com
- a popup you cant press away in-app
- a change in your account standing listed on “Settings” > “Privacy & Safety” > “Account Standing”
