Why did the navigation revert back to 4 icons at the bottom nav?

Was I on an A/B test? Why did the navigation change back to the 4 icons at the bottom navigation? The behavior where the messages were at the same area as the channels on the top left was far superior. Hope that this is just temporary for the revert back to the bottom navigation UI… otherwise I might have to access discord on my phone browser instead :'(
