Notification from unselected channel

I keep getting pings (the red marker with number) on Discord servers where I have a channel not selected.

This occurs because in that channel a role I have is being mentioned. I have 0 interest in the channel, hence I do not have the channel selected as visible.
This should mean I should not be getting a notification that the role is mentioned and see the channel under suggested every time.

I have the role as when they do an announcement or anything for it, then I do want to be notified + it gives me access to the relevant channels.
It would be good to not have those notifications.

I know you can alter the channel settings for those mentions, but it should not be neccesary to change those on channels you have not selected.

Example of where I wouldn't want it:
I'm on a Discord server that is all about randomizer races. I've got the role(s) for the game(s) I'm interested in. That comes with access to the channels.
One of those channels is a race planning channel. One I have 0 interest in because I don't do races for those randmizers.
But everytime someone wants to plan a race they mention the role of the game they want to race causing it show up with a notification on the server and the channel.
