March 2025 Visual Update.
My first reaction to the new update released 3/25/25 was, “Eww”. I literally said Eww out loud when discord fully loaded. The color scheme change is already a lot to take in at first. If it was just new colors it would be easy to move past. The new colors only hide at first how comprehensive the changes were to the desktop's UI. The new discord app for desktop looks so bad. EVERYTHING is smaller. The icons for the rooms, the text on everything, literally every part of it. In the settings you can make some changes to make it a little bit more like how it was before but only somewhat. You can change the color back. You can adjust the spacing of things but not to a specific amount only 3 options and none are what it was before only close and not close at all. There is a way for you to adjust the scaling but it does it to everything as a whole. You can't adjust specific parts. So if something feels right but something else is off that's just the way it is. I just wish there was an option for “Old Default” so that us who have used discord for years can keep a similar layout and look that we have grown used to. Overall I have no idea what the new features are that came with this update, I honestly don't care. I'm sure there will be some cool features even something I might use a lot. This update will still be considered a bad update no matter what was provided in new features because for me this is a major drop down in visual clarity, and aesthetics.
