New UI

Reason for this post.

I've heard lots of users discuss the new UI layout, and pretty much all I heard was negative, mostly about the server icons now being smaller and square even though you're not currently looking at that server.

Then there's the bar at the top, which just kinda duplicates text that you can already find through the rest of the UI, so it just seems like a useless addition.

Next is the input bar, to me it looks slightly bigger, but I've seen versions where it's now 2 bars, one for adding text and the other for all the attachments, which looks extremely dumb, since you're wasting so much space by seperating those 2.

The last bit I heard much about is the profile/activity bar, which now not only covers channels within a server or the list of people in your Direct Messages, but also the server list.

Something that I noticed myself is that the server list and the server feel much more disconnected, but after comparing old and new UI, I think I know the reason for this. In case you haven't noticed they separated the server list and the server itself or DMs with a line that wraps around the side between the server list and the server and than continues on the top. This in itself isn't bad, but to do this they made the server icons smaller and added the (previously mentioned) useless top bar. To top this all off, they decided to then screw the seperation, and added the activity bar over the line, as if it isnt even there, which makes it seem like a total mess.

My proposal for UI design.

Revert back to the larger circular server icons.

Remove the bar at the top of the screen, it adds little to no value.

instead of the slightly bigger input bar, which seems like its almost 2 letters high, make it about 1.2 to 1.5 letters high.

If you really want the extra horizontal space for the input bar, maybe do something similar to the mobile app where theres a menu after you click the emoji icon where you can choose between emojis, GIFs and stickers. Also since there's already the option to use built in apps for discord in the attachment menu, you can remove it from the buttons by the emojis and things, possibly move the nitro gifting to attachment menu as well, since I sincerely believe it's not worth the horizontal space on the bar for how little it's used.

Remove the seperation line surrounding the DMs or server content.

Then lastly, just return the activity bar to cover only the channel/DM list.
